Pedophilia is when an adult is sexually attracted to and/or fantasizes about prepubescent (under the age of 13) children. If the child is past puberty, the desire would not be classified as pedophilia.
Though pedophilia is influenced by biological as well as social factors, it is primarily a psychological problem. Pedophiles are people who act on their sexual fantasies with children.
These actions include: undressing a child, performing sexual acts with a child, making a child watch the pedophile masturbate and touching a child's genitals. Nine out of ten pedophiles are males, while girls are twice more likely to be targeted by pedophiles than boys are.
