Article Image Who Gets Depressed?
--Women are three times more likely to become depressed, regardless of their race, ethnicity or class. This could be because of the hormonal changes women experience, caused by puberty, menstruation, pregnancy and menopause.

--Teens have high degrees of depression, especially teenage girls. These changes usually begin during adolescence when social expectations begin to shift and hormones start affecting the body differently. Adolescents tend to be stressed by the pressures of forming an identity, reacting to sexuality, separating from their parents and having greater responsibility. In this situation, adolescent girls are more likely than boys to become depressed.
