The anti-cult movement, otherwise known as ACM, is a collection of groups that target the activities of cults. The ACM was started out of fear for the dangerous potential of some cults. While ACM groups have been on the rise in Europe and Asia, their acceptance in the United States has largely declined due to the controversial methods used to "deprogram" cult members.
Lacking support from both the government and psychological communities, the ACM continues to work with little success against cult groups.
