The American Cancer Society recommends girls age 9-18 to be vaccinated against HPV. Tests are still being done to determine the effects of the vaccine for those between the ages of 19 and 26, but the vaccine is not recommended for women over the age of 26. The vaccine is recommended for younger women because it's most effective in women who have not yet acquired any of the strains of HPV covered by the vaccine. Also, the vaccine has not been tested sufficiently on women over the age of 26.
