fast facts global warming
Left Image
Article Image The media plays a large part in how the idea of global warming is portrayed to the public. While a very small group of scientists believes global warming is natural, their viewpoint is often played up by parties who benefit from this viewpoint. For example, corporations that rely on energy from fossil fuels are harmed by restrictions on greenhouse gas emissions. Therefore, people trying to take an active stand against global warming pose a threat to industries such as oil and gasoline.

Experts say there are lots of ways people can help reduce global warming. People can use less energy at home by taking quicker showers, changing regular light bulbs to fluorescent ones or recycling and turning off electric devices when not in use. You can also take public transportation or walk instead of driving, avoid products with lots of packaging and plant outdoors. And if you want to go even further, consider encouraging sustainable practices at your school or local businesses. By taking part in these simple changes, less energy will be used--energy that would normally be produced by fossil fuels and other harmful gases that spur global warming.
