How is mono treated? There is no vaccine or quick shot to cure mono, so good self care is really the only way to get better. Getting plenty of rest is the most important first step. Resting from mono may mean no school, hanging out or other physical activity.
Mono can cause the spleen to enlarge, so (while it's rare) intense activity may cause it to rupture. Most doctors believe that a person with mono should postpone any vigorous activities for at least a month after the onset of symptoms.
Staying in bed and drinking a lot of water or juice is the best thing to do to make sure you get better faster. Mono affects everybody differently, so some people only need a few days to recover while others may need several weeks.
