The UTERUS, or "womb," has thick walls
and some of the most powerful muscles
in the body. This is where the
fertilized egg grows during pregnancy.
The non-pregnant uterus is about the
size of a fist.
The bottom of the uterus is called the
CERVIX. If you slide your middle
finger as far back into your vagina as
you can, you can feel your cervix; it
feels like a nose with a small dimple
in its center.
The dimple is called the OS; it is the
opening to the uterus. Cervical caps
are a means of birth control which
cover the cervix, but are smaller than
diaphragms, which also cover the
cervix to prevent sperm from
traveling to an egg.
