Unfortunately, it seems that after all that, nobody is willing to hire anyone – awesome me included.

Yet my friends don’t seem cool about starting a new business with me just for the summer.

Fine, but that means they can kiss getting cool birthday gifts goodbye since I will have no money.

I fill out every form imaginable at every place imaginable. Then I wait. And wait. And wait. Going to be a thrilling summer, yeah?

And then one day, just before school ends, I FINALLY GOT A JOB! Money-making summer here I come.

Wait… if I am working every day this summer, then I am probably going to have to miss out on fun things, like spending evenings sparkler dancing Katy Perry-style.

Uh oh. Is summer money > summer fun? I guess I was bound to have to choose one or the other. We’ll just have to see.

You really should put the effort into doing your best and using good study strategies, so that you can finish out the school year on a strong note.

But I’m not going to sugarcoat it and act like studying for finals isn’t a whole lot of work. Flashcards, combing through old notes, remember what the quadratic equation… it’s a lot. I still stand by my belief that studying is important, but if you’re looking to try and ace your exams with the least amount of effort possible, I can definitely think of a few things that are worth a try. Hey, it’s your grades! Here are 10 ways to make studying for finals way easier:


Get Your Supplies In Order

I mean, what's the point of studying if you get into the exam room and realize you don't even have a sharpened pencil? Perhaps your time would have been better spent preparing your writing utensils. Instead of rereading everything you already listened to in class, put your electric pencil sharpener in reach and just sharpen pencils during all your TV commercials. Seriously, you'll be super prepared for test day... at least when it comes to pencils.

Watch The Movie Version

Realized you didn't actually read "Hamlet" for class? Then it's totally okay to just watch The Lion King to get the main gist. Just be careful you don't actually refer to Hamlet as "Simba" in your final exam essay. That may raise some red flags. Seriously, here's a whole list of movies inspired from your reading list. I mean, they are probably word-for-word dialogue and plot from the original... I mean, Hamlet was a lion after all, right?

Rewrite Your Notes

Sometimes re-writing notes is a good way to help refresh your memory. Instead of just writing them on a scrap of paper you're just going to throw away (not eco-friendly!) why not write them on your hand! No paper wasted! Oh, it didn't wash off in time for the actual exam? Well, that's a totally innocent coincidence.

Go To Your Teacher

Sometimes you study and you take the test and feel like it didn't help. No what will help your grade, no matter if you choose to circle A, B or C? A little good old fashioned bribery. Instead of spending all those hours studying and not retaining the info, instead bake up a big batch of cupcakes (way more fun than studying, right?). Give one to your teacher as a reminder of how wonderful of a student you are. The rest of them? Umm, those are totally for you! Snack away knowing you got an A! Probably...

Let History Repeat Itself

You're heard the saying that "history repeats itself," so then it probably makes sense that you can repeat history papers for your final exams, right? You put all that work in last year, so might as well make it last. Just Wite-Out the grade, change the date and hand it back in. Your teacher has read hundreds of papers since then, so she probably won't even notice.

Get Some Sleep

Sleep is super important to get you ready for exam day, but you lead a busy and social life. That's why it's totally cool to catch up on important pre-exam sleep by dozing off in your classes. Hey, you have to take it when you can get it! It's not like you'll miss any last minute study hints, right?

Get A Good Breakfast

In addition to sleep, you also need a good breakfast to get your mind moving. That means you should definitely go out to breakfast before your finals and get as many courses as you want. Feel free to charge the school for your breakfast! Plus, if you're late to your 8 am final because you went out to breakfast, at least you have a totally legit reason for missing your final that the school will have to understand.

Hit The Books

Like, literally. Take out your finals anger by just hitting some books. When your mom asks what you did yesterday and you say, "Oh, I hit the books," you won't be lying and she won't question that you were studying for your finals. Bonus: you can do this while you watch TV or listen to music - who said "studying" was boring?!

Have A Multi-Choice Strategy

Okay, so you could study the content for the answers, but that's a lot to cover and who knows what will actually be on the test. Why not focus on the answers you know will be there: A, B, C, D. Teachers are always offering tricks for narrowing down multi-choice questions, but make it simple on yourself by spending your study time thinking about what you'll go with on test day. I'm feeling B. You're bound to get some right if you just stick with one answer - and you didn't even need to put in all those study hours!

Protest Finals

Really, really don't want to study? Take a seat on the front steps and protest taking finals. I mean, as a lazy girl you shouldn't have to do what you don't want! In fact, a sit-in protest doesn't sound bad - literally, you'll just get to sit outside for a while and not move! Your ambition to really throw yourself into a passion project will probably inspire some of your teachers to reward you. They probably don't want to spread their time grading everyone's finals anyway, so perhaps a few of them will join your side!

I’m not proud of it, but I definitely use some strong language to describe how I feel.

My painful cramps are bringing about so many confusing emotions right now.

Ugh, all the knots my stomach is in is just making me physically exhausted. The only thing that helps is to just lay still.

But OF COURSE, this is on a day when I need to stand up in class and give a final presentation, so I have to go to school.

At school, I want absolutely zero people in my vicinity. Unless you know magic to make this go away, do not come near me.

If anyone DOES get near me, I get right to the point.

My friends are all, “Oh I know, my cramps can be so bad.” Yes, but you don’t have them RIGHT NOW, so shush.

And if any of my guy friends dare to say anything, I have something to say about that.

It’s been hours of agony. When will it stop?!

I go to the nurse and she lets me lay down for two periods (hah). Then she insists I need to carry on with my regular schedule to make my presentation.

I finish presenting and then all the cramp pain I’d been trying to hide comes rushing in all at once. I can’t pretend anymore and just let out all my feels.

After school, I tell my coach I feel sick. She asks if I plan to practice. I can definitely answer that.

I finally get home and I don’t even want to walk to my bed. I just decide to make the floor my home.

My little sister finds me laying on the bathroom floor. She doesn’t really know what’s going on, but at least she tries to be nice.

I decide to call it a night and try to escape via sleep. As I lay there, I remember I get to wake up and do this again tomorrow.

We’ve given you some helpful ideas for how to look tan (without a dangerous tanning bed, of course!), but what if you don’t feel like spending any money? What if you really want to do your tanning in a super easy and lazy way?

Well, then this fake tanning guide is for you. As always, results are not guaranteed, but we can guarantee these are the laziest ways out there to get (at least, attempt to get) a tan.


Easy Teeth Whitening

Gurl editor Caitlin suggested whitening your teeth in order to look more tan. A simple solution? Just buy a bunch of those vampire fang teeth and pop them in. Seriously, I don't know if it's even possible to get real teeth that shockingly white, so this is probably a better alternative.

Consider A White Wardrobe...

Why stop at just your teeth? Take to wearing full white outfits so even if you didn't actually tan, you'll probably look more tan compared to your clothing. For a bonus effect, only stand against white walls and carry around a white piece of paper like this woman is doing.

Or An Orange One!

Here's an alternate fake tanning fashion direction. You see, whenever I try to use self-tanner, it takes a long time and I end up looking orange. Why not just skip a couple steps and get those same tanning results? Instead, just deck yourself out head-to-toe in shades of orange - long sleeve shirts, pants, hats, just total orange. If your skin is barely visible anyway, people will probably just assume its orange too, and voila, the illusion of tanning.

Remember Tans Of The Past

Were you super tan last summer? Just start recycling those same pictures of you at the park or at the beach on your social media, pretending like they are brand new snapshots. You may need to hide inside for the rest of the time so nobody can see that you're getting kind of creative with how you present your "current" tanness, but as long as it appears to everyone else that you're tan right now, that's really all that matters.

Go Golden & Glistening

When I think of tans, I always hear words like "golden" and "glistening." Why not create a fake tan aura by dressing in ways that involve those two adjectives. Take this woman at the left! All you seem to need is just some sequins glued on a jacket and just some gold glitter splashed on your face. At the craft store, that'll only be a couple bucks! You'll truly be golden and glistening, and since those things describe a tan, by the transitive property (thanks math!) you are also now tan.

Ditch The Shower

The days of not being able to reach your back with self-tanner are over! Use that "emergency credit card" to do a bathroom makeover in your house and get a plumber in there to reroute your pipes into a big vat of self-tanner. You'll get an even tan every time! Okay, so now your shower is out of commission, but you don't even need to shower every day so this has just made the space more effective. At least, your parents should see it that way...

Consolidate Your Sprays

Lazy girls like me don't like to have too many things on our to-do list. Spray perfume AND do a fake tan spray when getting ready in the morning? Whoa, too much. Just do a little mixing of your favorite perfume and your spray tan for a two-in-one. Okay, I'm not exactly sure how well they will mix and you may just end up with a splotchy tan around your neck and wrists, but it's better than nothing, right? Plus, you've saved time!

Get The Outdoor Experience

Want the outdoor tanning experience? You know, where you just lay out all day, flipping through magazines and living it up lazy-style. You can totally still do that! Just with a hat, lots of sunscreen and under an umbrella to keep your skin safe from the harmful sun rays. Hey, tanning is more about the outdoor experience than the actual result, right?

I was a nail biter for a long time and then I turned into a nail picker – let’s just say I had a pretty gnarly looking index finger that I had to start wrapping up so the nail could grow back. Yikes!

Trying to kick a habit is something many of us choose to go through at some point, and GIF Girl is no exception. A notorious nail biter, she’s decided she wants long nails to show off the world… but it’s going to take a little while to get her there. How will she fare after she decides to stop biting her nails? Let’s take a look:

Oh hi, welcome to my world. This is usually how you’d find me sitting in class.

It is a nervous habit that goes hand-in-hand with my stress sweating. I mean, what else was I supposed to do when things got tense.

I first realized I had a problem when I took my nails out of my mouth for a second, and got a look at them. Or rather, the lack of them.

I thought maybe it would get easier with a friend there to help me through it.

Except she was quick to stop biting her nails. I wasn’t. Was she judging me?!

At first I thought wearing gloves would help… but these are the only ones I could find for sale in the spring.

Wait a second… AGH, I took a big bite of nail. I’M SORRY.

Guys, this is hard. Feel bad for me.

I just have a hard time when people try to control me! Even if that “person” is actually me looking out for me…

STOP THE EXCUSES, SELF. I can do this. Look, I’ve turned to chewing gum instead of my own nails. This is progress.

Another strategy? Sometimes as I chew my nails, I think about where my hand has been lately. Touching door knobs, picking things off the floor. Okay, that’s gross.

I’ve decided to try painting them to quit biting, but I’m not sure this clear polish is doing it.

Hmmm, maybe some nail art of fun colors will inspire me to stay on track…

When (not if – positive thinking!) my crush asks me out, I don’t want to be hiding my chewed off nails from him. I want my hands out to do this.

Sigh, I think kicking this habit is going to take me longer than I thought. I need to be more patient.

Once I quit biting my nails I know everyone is going to be so impressed. I will accept all compliments like a champ – as I show off my new manicure, of course.
