Well, imagine that in Earth will be inhabitable in 1,000 years. Scary, huh? That’s exactly the premise of Sony’s new movie After Earth, starring Will and Jaden Smith.

The 2013 MTV Movie Awards were last night (April 14), and it was an, um, interesting show–and a tumultuous one. For every highlight, there was something sort of awful or just really lackluster happening. Here are the best and worst moments from the 2013 MTV Movie Awards–and believe us, it was hard to narrow down the lists for both categories.

The Best 2013 MTV Movie Awards Moments:

Emma Watson’s Trailblazer Award
Okay, how adorable was Emma? And how gracious and sweet and elegant was she? Her tribute was moving, especially when you consider just how long she’s been in the business. And her acceptance speech was everything you’d expect it to be: Classy, professional and tender. You get it, girl!

Rebel Wilson’s Body Image Speech
Her message was great, and the fact that she presented it by showing off a few fake extra nipples ensured that people at least, on the surface, paid attention.

Macklemore and Ryan Lewis Perform “Can’t Hold Us”
Just when you were finally getting tired of “Thrift Shop,” Macklemore and Ryan Lewis blasted through “Can’t Hold Us,” and they brought the freakin’ house down. Seriously, they’re just so good–whether or not you’re a fan of their music, you can’t deny that these dudes delivered last night.

Quvenzhane Wallis’ + Tom Hiddleston’s Existence
Even when she was stuck being part of tacky skits (see the “Chlamydia” clip below), Quvenzhane Wallis remains flawless and adorable. Somehow it’s not even weird that a nine-year-old may have been one of the most mature and talented people in the building–and we love how she interacted with Chloe Grace Moretz, who was like a sweet older sis. And the fact that she presented best villain to Tom Hiddleston was sort of perfect. Because Tom Hiddleston? He’s pretty perfect, and he freakin’ thanked Liam Payne from One Direction in his speech. Love. Love. Love.

The Slew of Goodlooking, Hilarious Gentlemen
The Best Shirtless Performance presenters killed us, and having Brad Pitt and the cast of The Avengers onstage at the same time pretty much made us need to take a cold shower. We just wish Chris Hemsworth could have made it.

The Worst 2013 MTV Movie Awards Moments:

All the Fat Jokes
We’re stoked that Rebel Wilson is happy with her shape–we think she looks great! And we think it’s rad that she has a sense of humor about herself. But really, were the writers so desperate that these were practically all they could come up with to use when she introduced Melissa McCarthy?

MTV says that Aubrey Plaza crashing the stage during Will Ferrell’s acceptance speech for the Comedic Genius Award was unplanned and that she got kicked out afterward, but we’re not sure if we’re buying it–because no one really looked that surprised. The whole thing was not only unfunny, but just awkward to watch. We get it, Aubrey. You’re like, edgy! Not that Will’s speech was any better. He’s supposed to be a Comedic Genius, but we’re not sure what he was going for here: “LOL, they’re Asian?” Is that it? Whatever. Lame.

Slut Shaming Megan Fox
This whole casting couch bit was not only gross, but sexist. Instead of going after Megan Fox (who’s married with a kid no less), why not go after the skeevy producers and casting directors who proliferate this kind of stuff to go on? Or, if we’re just going to slut shame stars, why not go after men too? All those Hollywood gay rumors had to start somewhere, and we’re sure a lot of guys are just as desperate for fame as girls are. Plus, isn’t it just kind of a crummy thing to do to insult someone who isn’t there to defend herself? Tacky. We could forgive tacky if it were funny, but the joke didn’t even have that to salvage itself.

Selena Gomez’s Disaster
For all the hype Selena Gomez gave to her new song, “Come & Get It,” she couldn’t be bothered to sing it well at all live or on the backing track, and she’s referred to a song with visual and aural Indian influences as “tribal.” That insinuates that she’s confusing the culture of India with that of Native Americans, which is pretty ignorant. (If you’re gonna do cultural appropriation, at least do it right.) On the bright side? She looked beautiful.

C’mon, bro. Why couldn’t you take off your shirt just this once?

My Date With The President's Daughter

I loved watching Eric Matthews (okay, so he has a different name in the movie and in real life, but let's just go with it) woo the president's daughter on their totally crazy date. This is a '90s classic that totally deserves a re-watch on a day off.

Chasing Liberty

Mandy Moore is the president's daughter who is sick of always having people looking out for her. After making a break for it, she starts bonding with a guy she just met. But he may not be all that he seems!

First Daughter

So this is basically Chasing Liberty, but with a few changes. Katie Holmes plays (as you could guess from the title) the daughter of the president who heads off to college without wanting all those Secret Service around. She too meets a guy who may not be all that he seems!

Sinbad stars as a Secret Service agent assigned to look after (you guessed it) the "First Kid." They go from annoying one another to a place of understanding and friendship, all done in typical '90s hijinks fashion.

Independence Day

Okay, the title is maybe more suited to a different national holiday, but when your movie has the White House on the cover, it works for Presidents' Day too. Plus, at one point, the president flies a fighter jet. If you want some action on your day off, watch Will Smith and company save the world from alien forces.

Mars Attacks!

I remember watching this when I was way too young and it terrified me. Apparently though, it's meant to be funny! Jack Nicholson is the president who tries to facilitate a meeting on Earth with some aliens, and as you might expect, things do not go particularly well.

Monsters Vs. Aliens

Aliens are apparently very popular in movies where the president is a character. After a failed attempt by the president in this film (voiced by Stephen Colbert) to reach out to some aliens, a crew of monsters steps in to save the day. I will also add that the president in this movie has some awesome keyboard skills.

The American President

If you are looking for a bit of a more romantic take, there's this movie with Michael Douglas and Annette Bening about the relationship between the widowed president and an environmental lobbyist. Basically, the girl who plays Becky in Little Giants plays the president's daughter, which is awesome.

Dave

Wouldn't it be crazy if you looked exactly like someone famous? Well, Dave looks exactly like the president and he gets called to fill in when the real prez is in a coma. It's all about a regular guy figuring out all that political stuff (and maybe finding love along the way).

Lincoln

So this is probably the one I will be watching on my day off. The biopic covers Lincoln's life during his presidency, and Daniel Day-Lewis is supposed to be amazing as the president. This film is nominated for a lot of Oscars next weekend, making it a particularly timely choice.

The Grammys 2013 dress code wouldn’t be too happy with Rihanna’s 2012 Grammy gown. But we think she looks incredible! | Source: WENN

The dress code memo for the Grammys leaked online, and holy cow is it sexist.

There are next to zero regulations in the Grammys dress code for guys, but there are plenty for girls. Here’s a sampling of what they’re demanding women wear–and not wear–on “Music’s Biggest Night,” courtesy of Crushable:

“Please be sure that buttocks and female breasts are adequately covered. Thong type costumes are problematic. Please avoid exposing bare fleshy under curves of the buttocks and buttock crack. Bare sides or under curvature of the breasts is also problematic. Please avoid sheer see-through clothing that could possibly expose female breast nipples. Please be sure the genital region is adequately covered so that there is no visible “puffy” bare skin exposure. Please avoid commercial identification of actual brand name products on T-shirts. Foreign language on wardrobe will need to be cleared. OBSCENITY OR PARTIALLY SEEN OBSCENITY ON WARDROBE IS UNACCEPTABLE FOR BROADCAST. This as well pertains to audience members that appear on camera. Finally, The Network requests that any organized cause visibly spelled out on talent’s wardrobe be avoided. This would include lapel pins or any other form of accessory.”

So basically, no boobs–whether they be nipples, side boob, underboob–or butts or camel toes are allowed at the Grammys this year.

Look, I get it. It’s a family broadcast and it’s during primetime, so people want to avoid complaints and potential wardrobe malfunctions and the subsequent fines that come along with them. Fair enough. But why do we need to specify female nipples and breasts? Frankly, a lot of people would rather see Rihanna shirtless than, say, Elton John, and it’s pretty screwed up that there’s such a loud, clear double standard there. And let’s be real, his boobs are probably bigger than hers.

Part of why a lot of artists wear somewhat revealing clothing onstage isn’t just to sell sex (and, admittedly, that is a big part of it, because it garners them attention). It’s also in part because the less fabric there is, the less chance for them to tear, snag or trip over it, and with performers that also dance onstage under powerful lights, it gets very hot up there–so it’s a little irritating that someone like Ed Sheeran (who, for the record, I adore) is totally fine to rip off his shirt, while someone like Katy Perry or Nicki Minaj can’t.

Aside from the big game itself (and the killer halftime show), the 2013 Super Bowl commercials were the reason everyone didn’t want to run to pee during breaks in the field action. Sure, a lot of this year’s Super Bowl commercials were gross–we’re looking at you, GoDaddy–but some of them were pretty awesome. We rounded up our favorites.

One may make you cry, but the rest will make you giggle. Of course, the real question is whether these super expensive Super Bowl commercials will actually make you buy anything–but who cares when you have Amy Poehler, pandas, prom and a goat to entertain you?

The Beyonce 2013 Super Bowl Halftime Show literally shut it down in every way. After Beyonce, to whom I affectionately refer as Queen Bey, graced the Superdome with her flawless presence, the freakin’ lights went out. Not that it mattered. In a few years, not many people will remember what happened with the Ravens or 49ers–though they did play a great game, obviously–but everyone will reflect fondly on Beyonce and the Destiny’s Child reunion.
