Just because she was single for a while, the world pretty much was like, “Is Kelly Clarkson gay?” She’s not. She recently got engaged to Brandon Blackstock.

The awesomest part about all of this is that Kelly Clarkson isn’t bothered one bit when someone asks if she’s gay.

“People think, ‘Oh, she’s been single for too long.’ That’s kind of an insult to the gay community,” Kel said in a new interview. “Being single doesn’t mean you’re gay. But I’m never insulted by it, obviously!”

In fact, Kelly doesn’t even mind when girls hit on her. “I mean, I get hit on by the hottest girls ever. Oh, my God, if I were a lesbian, I would be so in luck! But it’s not just my thing. I’ve always batted for the boys’ team.”

We freakin’ love Kelly’s attitude. Being single isn’t the end of the world–and it won’t last forever. And just because someone who’s not necessarily your preferred gender thinks you’re cute, it’s not a bad thing. It’s a compliment!

Though the Kelly Clarkson gay rumors don’t bug her, a lot of times the guys who hit on her do–because they’re jerks! “Usually the guys who hit on me are tools,” she griped. “It’s the ones that don’t hit on you that make you like, ‘Why didn’t you ask me out?’ It’s like American Idol auditions: The guys who are the most confident are the horrible ones, and the ones who are good have no confidence at all.”

Remember that next time you think a shy guy is cute but doesn’t make a move. He may well just be be too nervous, and you could miss out on someone awesome. And just because a guy has the balls to talk to you doesn’t mean he’s a catch, either. Use your judgment and you’ll wind up with someone rad, just like Kelly Clarkson did.

And if you’re dealing with gay rumors? Shake ‘em off, girl. There’s nothing wrong with being gay, but there’s no need for people to be in your business. The less big of a deal you make out of it, the faster they’ll forget and move on! It’s a lot better to be single and mistaken for a lesbian than to force yourself into a crappy relationship with someone you don’t even like just to shut people up. Try Becoming Friends First

Speaking of New Girl, we can also take a lesson from her character Jess and her roommate Nick (Jake Johnson). We can tell that Nick and Jess are kind of meant to get together, but there’s something really nice about watching them come to love each other as friends first. That said, you shouldn't feel pressured to strike up a relationship with a guy friend - whether your friends want you to or you're sick of being single - just because he happens to be there. You shouldn't settle like that, and it could damage those valuable friendships. Do Respect Guy Time

Allegedly Harry chose to fly to London with Taylor, rather than in the company of his band mates. Now, Harry did choose to hang with Taylor, so we're not faulting her. We're just saying his friends may not appreciate if you interrupt what they see as guy time. Don't expect him to hang out with you every waking moment, and if your guy has plans with his friends, don't be constantly checking in. His friends will appreciate that you trust your BF and you respect their time together.

Do Be Social

It can be a little awkward to hang out with his friends if you don't know them well, but do your best to not just sit there. It can give off the impression that you're bored or disinterested and that isn't a good vibe to send to his friends or to get you future invites with the whole crew. Just be your usual awesome, funny self and you'll get more comfortable in no time!

Don't Try To Get All Their Inside Jokes

While you should definitely be social, don't try to overtake the situation. The inside jokes and stories he shares with his friends have a history. If you start acting like you get them or trying to one-up all their stories, that could annoy them or make them uncomfortable, which you don't want to do. Plus, you shouldn't feel like you have to change yourself to be just like one of them anyway. It's about getting to know the real you and creating your own inside jokes with them.

Do Invite Them Along

Don't just wait around for them to invite you places — make the suggestion yourself! One-on-one dates are awesome, but there's a lot of things you do as a duo that his friends can join in on. Do you really need to watch a movie just you two? Let his friends come along and ease their worries that you're trying to keep him away from them. Plus, your friends are pretty great too, so invite them along and let everyone mingle and spark some new friendships (or maybe even romances!).

Don't Make Them Uncomfortable

Now, if you DO invite them along, don't suddenly resent them for being there or act like they're invisible. Engaging in over-the-top PDA or not acknowledging them is basically just as bad as excluding them from the get go. If a night out with you guys turns into them feeling like an unnecessary third wheel, they'll probably not want to hang out with you two again, which could lead to a divide or resentment.

Don't Judge Their Interests

Close friends do weird things when they are together. You probably do it too. Judging their activities though is a straight ticket to trouble. Maybe you don't get why they have to do certain sports rituals or why they like certain TV shows, but the worst thing you can do is to act like it's stupid. Make an effort to understand it, but if it's not your thing, that's totally fine. Just let it be their thing.

Do Try To Make Them Your Friends

Just because your boyfriend is the link between you doesn't mean that should be the only topic of conversation. Only talking about your boyfriend can get old pretty quick, but talking about the history class you take with his friend is a way for you to bond over things besides your boyfriend. Being able to consider them your friends rather than just your boyfriend's friends will make for a closer relationship.

Do Bring Something To Share

In my experience, food is a great icebreaker. What sort of hang out doesn't get better with a snack? Plus it shows that you thought about the well being of the people you're about to see. You don't have to make a five course meal, but contributing some snacks when you see the gang is a great way to be remembered as an awesome addition to the group.

Don't Make Him Choose

If you give your BF a "me or them" ultimatum, it's only a matter of time before his friends find out and that won't go over well. If you feel like you're not getting quality time with the BF, it's totally valid to talk about it - just be very careful to not phrase it in a way that undermines his friendships. That said, if you feel like his friends don't respect you, he should be willing to stand up for you. His friends shouldn't be the only important relationship he values.

We got so excited yesterday when we heard that Joseph Gordon-Levitt might be play Batman in the new Justice League movie! And then we got bummed out this morning when we learned that it’s not happening.

On one hand, it makes sense, because–spoiler alert!–The Dark Knight Rises establishes him as a different DC Comics character, and that would be difficult to forget and differentiate so soon. But it still would have been sort of awesome. Here are five reasons why we wish Joseph Gordon-Levitt would play Batman!

 
1. He could improve the “Batman voice.”
Dude, Christian Bale. We loved him as Bruce Wayne. Absolutely loved you. But not gonna lie, we didn’t like him quite as much as Batman, because it was really, really hard to understand what he was saying.

2. He could make Bruce Wayne more believable…
Joseph Gordon-Levitt is adorable, but he’s also got a guy-next-door vibe going. He could bring a new, almost everyman vibe to Bruce Wayne. And even though Bruce Wayne is rich, powerful, and strong, he’s still got a vulnerability to him that we think JGL could capture perfectly.

3. … Or he could replace Bruce Wayne entirely.
Since we’ve established that Christian Bale is an excellent Bruce Wayne, a risky–but potentially awesome–move would be to remake Batman without Bruce Wayne. If you saw TDKR, this theoretically could happen. (We’re trying not to give too much away!)

4. His comic timing.
Joseph Gordon-Levitt can do funny and serious, which would make him perfect for Justice League. If it’s anything like The Avengers, there’s going to be humor injected into the script, and who better to balance out Ryan Reynolds as Green Lantern than JGL as Batman?

5. Maybe he’ll finally get his girl.
It broke our hearts when Zooey Deschanel left him in the dust in 500 Days of Summer, but c’mon–who can resist a guy in a cape? (And just throwing this out there, but Zooey shares a lot of features in common with Wonder Woman!)

It’s super scary to think that something we use so much every single day can potentially kill us–but thankfully, there’s nothing to worry about!

New research says there’s no need to freak (phew!), because the effects of cell phone radiation don’t include brain tumors–there’s really not even a link. How do researchers know? For one, brain tumors aren’t any more common now than they were before cell phones became the norm, and the only real proven effect of cell phone radiation is “a tiny rise in temperature.” For real, how relieved are you right now?

To get technical for a sec–cell phones emit a different type of energy than X-rays. Cell phones emit radiofrequency energy, which doesn’t cause damage to your DNA like the ionizing radiation that X-rays cause. That DNA damage is what actually can be linked to cancer (which is why whenever you get an X-ray–even just at the dentist’s office–they cover you up).

The closest link to health issues caused by cell phone use–aside from the risks posed by talking or texting while driving (don’t do it!)–was an increase in sugar metabolism in the tissues on the side of peoples’ heads closest to where they held their phones. But even in those cases, the actual effects of that sugar metabolism boost haven’t been studied enough to conclude anything. We love Sheryl Crow and we think she’s an incredible singer, guitarist, and songwriter, and we think it’s totally rad that she beat breast cancer (you go girl!)–but she isn’t a doctor.

While we’re pretty convinced that there’s no real risk to cell phone use and cancer, if you’re still concerned about a link between the effects of cell phone radiation and your health, you have a few options: you can use a headset, snag a BlueTooth, or use speakerphone (obvs when you’re in private!) to keep your phone away from your head. Now stop using this as an excuse not to call your crush!

While a lot of things didn’t shock us too much (oh hey, One Direction slaying!), Kevin Hart defending Kristen Stewart shocked a lot of Twihards–and probably the Twilight cast, who were present for the ceremony. His take? “If she did? It’s over. Move on!”

To which we say: Dude, most of us already did … Until you brought it up again.

As you–and the whole world–probably know, Kristen Stewart was caught by paps cheating on Robert Pattinson, the on and off-screen love of her life, with her married Snow White and the Huntsman director. K-Stew responded to the photos with a heartfelt public apology to Rob–her first truly public acknowledgement of their relaysh–and then radio silence.

We felt pretty bad for Rob, who was in the audience at the time, for having this dredged up again. It’s hard enough to move on from a bad breakup when you’re not famous, but when you are, that crap gets thrown in your face 24/7. Even if you avoid the Internet and TV, eventually you’re going to leave your house and spy a magazine cover with your mugs on it and the word “CHEATING” emblazoned across your foreheads. Think of it like seeing your ex in your FB feed times a million.

The fact is, as a whole, people have pretty short attention spans, and a lot of people moved on from the K-Stew scandal already, if only because we had so many other things to distract us: Gabby Douglas! Carina Victoria’s hair flip! Taylor Swift’s new song! The Hunger Games on DVD! Miley Cyrus’ haircut!

We’re sure Kevin Hart defending Kristen Stewart was done with the best of intentions–but it was also really counterproductive, because no one can move on when something’s being addressed publicly every time you’re out. Even in his interview with Jon Stewart on The Daily Show, R-Pattz pretty much dodged actually discussing the drama, and aside from her statement right after the photos hit the Web, Kristen’s been mum about ‘em, too.

K-Stew herself was promoting On the Road in Toronto, so she wasn’t around to hear Kevin’s testimony. But we’re betting she’d prefer it if he’d have kept his mouth shut about it… But s— happens.

Louis Tomlinson of One Direction isn’t just a great singer, a savvy dresser, and a complete cutie. He’s also a bit of an expert on how to kiss. (Though we bet bandmate and notorious ladies’ man Harry Styles probably has a few tips on how to kiss, too!)

In a recent interview, Louis Tomlinson dished, “I like kisses that aren’t too fast or rushed–that’s what makes a good kiss.” Ooh baby!

As if knowing how to kiss well and being in one of the biggest bands on the planet weren’t enough, there’s another reason why Louis Tomlinson is perfect (besides the suspenders, of course). He doesn’t just know how to kiss, he also sounds like he knows how to cook! “The first dish I ever made was for my girlfriend, Eleanor. I made chicken breast wrapped in ham, homemade mashed potatoes, and gravy.” Uh, Eleanor? We’re so, so, so jealous of you!

Louis Tomlinson isn’t just an awesome boyfriend, though. He’s also a good pal to his bandmates–and an awesome wingman! He told Seventeen, “I will confess I am a great wingman. Since I have a girlfriend, I’ll start the night with her, but then I’ll help out the guys by making them sound like the most incredible guys in the world.” Smart! He also revealed what kinds of girls they like–and you’re all in luck. Really! “We all go for different types of girls–I wouldn’t say one person is necessarily pickier than the others.” Score, ladies!

While Zayn Malik may know how to make a difficult hairstyle look effortless, Liam Payne may know how to box, Niall Horan may know how to strum a guitar (and snag Demi Lovato’s heart!), and Harry may know how to chase cougars, it sounds like Louis Tomlinson knows most about how to kiss and how to treat a lady. We may have a new fave member of 1D–but we’re sure by next week we’ll change our minds again, because it’s way too hard to decide!

I was super surprised to hear this–but since we don’t want to promote hateful people on the site, I did my research to see what all the drama was about. Turns out, back in 2009, Katy posted a tweet that was offensive to the transgender community. Now, I don’t know Katy (and I’m pretty sure the girls who were so quick to say she’s transphobic don’t either), but I don’t think it’s a stretch to guess that the girl who dedicated her song “Firework” to the “It Gets Better Campaign” which supports bullied gay girls and guys either 1) didn’t think about her tweet before she sent it and didn’t mean it to offend anybody–but now feels bad about it, or 2) that she just thought it was funny but now feels terrible about it and wants to show the world that she’s a better person than that.

Either scenario resulted in a tweet that upset people, which I’m not saying is good, but I don’t think Katy should have to be stuck with that bad decision three years after the fact. It’s not like she shot someone or set out to ruin someone’s life–she just said something completely thoughtless.

Why shouldn’t we let celebrities make mistakes, too, without labeling them forever as bad people? I get it that their words have a greater impact because all eyes are on them–but nobody’s perfect. We’re all just human here (even the stars among us), and the great thing about life is that it’s not static. We all (you, me, and even Katy Perry) have the ability to grow and learn and be better people each and every day. We all do totally stupid stuff from time-to-time, and hopefully those experiences make us better people instead of worse.

Let’s try to look at people (and yes, even celebrities!) with a little compassion before we go labeling them as “phobic” this or “anti” that. After all, how can you expect anyone to change for the better when you don’t give them a chance?

Sometimes the world surprises me in a good way. Lindsay Lohan is giving up dating to focus on landing her next big role and it seems that she’s even gotten some of her long lost fashion sense back—her court outfit was actually appropriate–cute, even!

Sure, LiLo has launched a billion comebacks and been given a trillion chances, but she was just so awesome in Mean Girls and Freaky Friday (heck, I even liked Georgia Rule!) that we’d still really like to see her come out on top.

Lindsay can deny her drug use all she wants but I’ve seen it with my own two eyes, girls. And besides, you can’t change what you don’t acknowledge, so hopefully Linds has learned that pills, powders and anything else you put into your body doesn’t exactly make for a smashing career. Drew Barrymore learned the same lesson the hard way, landing in rehab at just 13 years old, but look at her know–successful, sober and happy! See, Lindsay? There really is hope.

 
2)   Bad Manners Aren’t Cute

True, we all have our little brat fits now and then, but we def prefer her professional looking manicure to her F-You nails she wore to court a while back. Plus, you’ll get a lot further in life with a well placed “please” and “thank you” than a shrill “Don’t you know who I am?!” Play nice, Lindsay. We know you’ve got it in you.

 
3)  Even Stars Can Get Fired

Getting the axe from a job is one of the most humiliating, hurtful things that can happen. Now imagine if your firing was courtesy of a public letter from a producer, and suddenly you’re out millions of dollars, and your professional rep is in the toilet. Linds has gotten the boot from more than one movie because she was deemed un-insurable thanks to her endless partying and stinking attitude. It’s a rough lesson to learn, but just like Beyonce says, don’t you ever for a second get to thinkin’ you’re irreplaceable.

 
 
4)  Natural Trumps Fake

I won’t crucify a celeb for a few extensions or even some Botox. But Lindsay’s over-the-top altering of her face, hair and goodness knows what else left her looking ages older than 25. Linds, sweetie, once the injections fade out (3-6 months) please don’t go back for more! And we’re adoring your old school red hair–that’s the super pretty girl we know and love!

 
5) There Really Are People Rooting For You
