7 Things To Know About Sagging Breasts

Boobs. For something that’s on our bodies, we still have a lot of questions about them. We wonder about the size of them, the shape, whether they’ve stopped growing, and whether our nipples are normal or not. One other thing that might come to mind is sagging.

You might think that sagging isn’t something that you have to worry about for a few years. Or, maybe you frequently stand topless in front of the mirror wondering whether your girls have started to sag a bit. I don’t want you to stress out about sagging boobs because they’re a normal, natural thing. And I find one of the best ways to stop worrying about something is to find out more information on the topic. So, take a look at seven things to know about sagging breasts.

Your Boobs Actually Get Fat

You probably are aware that as we get older, our boobs will start to sag. What you might not know is the science behind it. Basically, boobs get fat and start to sag. When you're younger, breasts are made out of fat, collagen, and milk glands. As you get older, the collagen and milk glands shrink, resulting in more fat added to boobs. The fat is more susceptible to gravity which is why boobs become to sag.

Wearing A Bra All The Time Doesn't Stop Your Boobs From Sagging

Do you have that one friend who wears a bra 24/7 because she genuinely believes that it's the secret to keeping her boobs perky when she's 80? Sorry to tell you and her, but it doesn't work that way. As I just explained, breasts develop a higher fat content as we age, making them more prone to sagging. Wearing a good bra can help slow the process gown and keep girls up where they should be, but it's not going to prevent sagging.

Breastfeeding Cannot Cause Sagging

You've probably heard how breastfeeding can cause boobs to sag. Well, Health.com reports that it's a myth. It's actually the weight gain during pregnancy that leads to sagging. Gaining weight during pregnancy causes the breasts' ligaments to stretch, results in, yes, sagging.

Smoking Can Also Impact Your Chest

If you need another reason not to smoke, here it is. Smoking can damage the ligaments and elastin in breasts, just like exercising does. This can actually change the shape of your boobs. So, don't light up.

Exercising Can Make Your Boobs Sag

Did you know that the impact and bouncing from exercising can actually damage elastin and ligaments in breasts and cause them to sag? It's one of the reasons why you should be investing in a good sports bra. Just don't use it as an excuse to shy away from all physical activity. There are still many benefits to getting your fitness on. Remember, you don't have to choose high impact activities.

An Underwire Bra Can Help With Sagging

Do you hate underwire bras? Well, that underwire can actually help keep breasts perky. It's not good enough to prevent the natural sagging of breasts as we age, but it can help slow it down. Consider that next time you're bra shopping. If you find underwires to be extremely uncomfortable, it could be that you're wearing the wrong bra size. Get measured and try on different styles.
