7 Kissing Tips For Short Girls With Tall Significant Others

If you’re a short girl, you will know that you have to adapt certain things in your live. You probably know that you cannot buy pants from the “regular” section of the store without cutting four inches off the bottom. And you’ve probably come up with a clever way how to get things off the top shelf. You’ve probably got your own routine down pat, but are you a bit thrown when you add other people into the mix? More specifically, are you confused about what to do with your tall significant other?

There’s nothing wrong with being short. Just like there is nothing wrong with being tall. And there’s absolutely nothing wrong with a short person going out with a tall person. Don’t let any of those “odd couple” yearbook photos make you think otherwise. Those people don’t know what they’re talking about.

If you’re in a relationship with a height difference, you might need to make some small adjustments to ensure everyone is comfortable. Kissing is one area where you might need to switch things up to avoid falling over or awkward pains in the neck. Don’t worry, you don’t need to do anything drastic. Here are seven easy kissing tips for short girls with tall baes.

Go Up On Your Toes

Heels are obviously a quick way to boost your height, but I totally get if you don't want to wear high shoes all of the time. One easy way to reduce your height difference when you want to smooch is to go up on your toes. It will work for quick kisses. If you're not a ballet dancer and you're worried about keeping your balance, lean against a wall. Better yet, lean into bae.

Let Your Partner Lift You

If your partner has the guns to lift you, let him/her use them. He/she doesn't need to hold all of your body weight for the entire time you're making out. Your partner can lift you up and rest you against a fall or whatever objects are around. Get creative.

Get A Boost From Your Surroundings

I know that you're probably not looking around at the scenery when you're about to makeout with bae, but it can be helpful to look for items that can help you get a little extra height. For example, there's likely a bench, curb, step, or even a slope around. If there's a box, grab that. Just make sure that whatever you're standing on is secure. You don't want to fall over.

Brace Yourself With Body Contact

No matter what position you find yourself in, an embrace/body contact will ensure you and bae don't fall over. Not to mention that it's very hot. Who is going to complain about that?

Say If You're Uncomfortable

You're short and sweet, and your significant other is a tall drink of water. Because of the height differences, you might not be aware of things that could be uncomfortable for your partner and vice versa. If you're trying to get into position for a lip lock, but you find it uncomfortable, tell your partner. Chances are he/she might not realize it's awkward because of his/her height. Encourage bae to open up if something doesn't feel right, too.

Kiss When You're Sitting Or Lying Down

There is generally less of a height difference when people are sitting or lying, so take advantage of it. If you start kissing standing up, you can always position yourself onto the ground. Hello.

Don't Stress Out About It Too Much

I know that I've given you a lot to think about, but I don't want it all go to your head so you don't enjoy your kiss. If you're stressing and so focused on trying to get into the *perfect* position, the kiss won't be enjoyable for you. Sometimes things can actually work out the best if you just shut your brain off and let your instincts take over.
