8 Unique Ways To Celebrate Galentine’s Day This Year

I’ve talked a bit about getting ready for Valetine’s Day (as well as why it sucks). It wouldn’t be right to discuss V-Day and completely ignore Galentine’s Day. Not only does it come before Valentine’s Day (on February 13, if you’re wondering), it’s one of the best holidays around because it’s about ladies celebrating ladies.

You can get involved with the Galentine’s Day celebrations whether you’re single, in a relationship, or hooking up with a friend with benefits. As long as you’re for the ladies and want to celebrate the day, you’re welcome.

If you’ve never celebrated the holiday before, or you’re looking for some unique ideas how to do it, I’ve got some suggestions. Don’t worry, they hardly require any effort which means that you can easily have them ready for February 13. Get inspired by eight unique ways to celebrate Galentine’s Day.

Have A #GirlBoss Appreciation Meet Up

There are a lot of amazing #girlbosses out there. We celebrate them a lot, but there's no such thing as spreading too much love. Have an informal meet up with some of the lovely ladies in your life and encourage them to bring things that inspire them or get them to talk about their favorite #girlbosses. You can take it a step further and talk about your #girlboss goals or watch an inspirational movie.

Watch The Parks And Recreation Episode

If you didn't know, Galentine's Day is actually one of Leslie Knope's favorite holidays. The *Galentine's Day* episode of Parks And Recreation is often credited for making Galentine's Day a big thing. Therefore, what could be better than actually watching it on February 13? You can easily expand the day and turn it into a Parks And Rec marathon.

Have A Slumber Party

Remember how much you used to love sleepovers when you were younger? Have one with all of your girls and try doing some of the fun activities you did before. You can watch scary movies, give each other makeovers with crazy colors, sing karaoke, and play board games. It's up to you if you want to gossip about crushes or whether that will be off limits.

Have A Fondue Dinner

Fondue dinners used to be a really popular thing, but then they seemed to go out of style. That means a lot of us haven't experienced just how yummy they can be. Don't sweat if you're not a cook. All you basically need is something melted and something hard to stick in it. If you want to go all out, you can have a cheese one to start and a chocolate one for dessert. Or, just do the chocolate one. No one will be mad about that.

Send Flowers To All Of Your Friends

Sending flowers on Valentine's Day isn't anything out of the ordinary, but Galentine's Day? That's something different. Make your friends feel extra special by sending them flowers. For an extra-personal touch, you can write a card explaining how much they mean to you. This is also a good option if you live far away from some of your BFFs.

Have A Spa Day At Home

A spa day can be amazing, but it can be seriously expensive. Prices will probably be inflated for Valentine's Day so skip the spa and the lovey-dovey couples altogether by having a pampering session at home. Encourage people to bring their PJs and robes then spend the day sheet masking, using hair treatments, and watching all of the Netflix.

Make Photo Albums

So much of our lives is documented online nowadays, but there's something special about a printout. It requires effort. Plus, it's something that you can hold and not have to worry about its battery dying. Encourage friends to print old photos and bring some fancy paper for a relaxed scrapbook/photo album-making session. If anyone has a camera like an Instax or an app that instantly prints photos, make sure they bring 'em.

Have A Baking Day

Who is ever going to say no to sweets? Definitely not me. The best part of any meal is dessert so make the whole day dedicated to sweet stuff. Tell your friends to bring their favorite recipes and you can go about recreating them in the kitchen together. FYI: Cake mixes are perfectly acceptable.
