8 Little Habits Everyone Has That Are Actually Bad For You

As much as we all would like to think that we are on top of things, there are always little ways that we mess up. Sometimes, these things are silly and small, and sometimes they are actually a big deal. I, for one, am a very messy person and have the habit of leaving clothes around my room every morning. It’s not a huge deal, it’s just a thing I do. But sometimes, little things you do can actually be really bad. The worst part is when you mess up and don’t realize it, because you are so used to doing these things. Sound familiar? We all have tiny habits that we don’t realize can actually ruin our lives. And it sucks!

I know that it’s hard to break habits, but maybe if you learn how bad these things you, you will feel more inclined to quit these things. Some of these things we do without realizing it, like touching our hair, or scrolling on our phones in bed, but they can be pretty harmful. The more you are aware of these bad habits, the easier it will be for you to stop them. Trust me, okay? Take a look at these little things we all do, then try and cut it out!

Brushing Your Teeth After Every Meal

My dad used to tell me that brushing your teeth after eating was the only way to prevent cavities. Yes, of course, brushing your teeth is good, but brushing TOO much can actually weaken your enamel, making your teeth a lot more sensitive. So, you should keep brushing your teeth, but don't freak out about it.

Being On Your Phone Before Bed

We ALL do this! I know! But it really is bad! Not only can it be bad for your eyes, but it will make it harder to fall asleep, which will make it harder to wake up in the morning. You should try to go without screens for 30 minutes before you head to sleep in order to ensure you get good beauty rest.

Sleeping A Lot On The Weekends

I know that a lot you are tired throughout the week, so you spend your weekends lounging and taking multiple naps. This is actually a bad idea, since it can ruin your sleep schedule even more. You should try to get the same amount of sleep every night so that you can actually get enough rest.

Popping Pimples

We all know this is bad, but we do it anyway. You see a pimple, then you want to pop it. It's normal to want to do this, but please, don't. This could cause infection or even cause you to break out more. Instead, add a spot treatment to the zit and let it sit overnight.

Applying Moisturizer To Dry Skin

You shouldn't wait until your skin is super dry in order to apply moisturizer. In fact, you should apply it after you step out of the shower in order to lock in your body's moisture. You should always be moisturizing to ensure that your skin is healthy and hydrated- not just when you are feeling dry and flaky!

Showering Every Day

Okay, not showering feels gross. But, showering with hot water every day can actually dry out your skin a lot and strip itself of natural oils. Of course, we all get dirty and want to rinse off, so it's okay to do it every day if you're not using super hot water and not staying in there for too long.

Touching Your Face

We all touch our faces. It's impossible not to. But, you should be a little more conscious of how dangerous it can be. The dirt and oils from your hands (and everything you have touched) can do disastrous things to your skin, like cause breakouts and irritation. It's okay to touch your skin every once in a while, but you're going to want to wash your hands thoroughly before!

Touching Your Hair

Do you twirl your hair when you're anxious or bored? Same. It seems harmless, but it can actually cause breakage and frizz. Yikes! Not only that, but touching your hair then touching your face can transfer the oils from your hair to your skin, which can cause breakouts. As much as it sucks, you're going to have to cut down on the hair touching, and try to keep it out of your face.
