7 Surprising Things That Are Ruining Your Sex Drive

What’s the worst thing that can happen during sex? Is it letting out a weird noise? Or maybe getting walked in on? Yikes. Both of these things are pretty bad, but there is one thing that just makes everything…awkward. I doesn’t always happen, but when it does, it totally sucks. It’s when you are super in the mood one minute, and then you are just…not. Obviously, if you are ever in this situation, you should never, ever keep going, since you should never do something you don’t want to do. But, it can get frustrating when you really WANT to have sex, but your body is not cooperating.

Maybe you just aren’t getting “wet” down there, or you suddenly lost interest with no notice. It does happen, even if you don’t know why. You might not realize the little things that can negatively affect your sex life. But if you are aware of these things, you’ll be able to figure out what’s going on so that you can fix it. I know it can be super hard to figure out what’s causing your low sex drive, since there are so many things it can be, so check out if you experience any of the following, which could be ruining your sex drive.


Yes, you read that right. I didn't know about this, but snoring can be a sign of sleep apnea, which can lower your testosterone levels. Wild, right? Something and innocent as snoring can trigger something completely different. If you have a snoring problem, be sure to get your hormone levels checked!

Honestly, most people don't realize that they are dehydrated. This can make you feel "off" in a number of ways, and can totally ruin your sex drive. If you are feeling like you haven't wanted to get it on recently, try and keep track of how much water you are drinking. My personal rule is that you should always be drinking water and carrying a bottle, not matter what. It really helps every aspect of your life.

Your Phone

Supposedly, being on your phone before bed can lower your libido, which is slightly terrifying, since mostly everyone I know scrolls on their phone while they are in bed. It can also ruin your sleep cycle, so it's best to just keep your phone out of your bed.

Lack Of Sleep

Little or no sleep can definitely affect you in a ton of ways, including your sex drive. It can significantly lower testosterone levels, which, as you know by now, can lower your sex drive. Just remember that sleep is important, and you should be getting enough of it!

Too Little Exercise

This sucks, but it does make sense that not being active can make you feel sluggish and keep you from getting into a sexual mood. It's important to be a little active every day - even if it's just going for a quick walk! If your blood isn't moving, you're not going to feel like getting it on.

Allergy Medication

Hmmmm...this is interesting. Supposedly, certain allergy medication might lower your sex drive, since a side effect is vaginal dryness. If you're not gettin' wet down there, you're definitely not going to want to get it on.

Scented Candles

Did you know that certain candles emit scents that will lower your testosterone levels? I didn't, but it's true.  Luckily, there are certain scents that will actually make you horny, but you should stay away from petroleum candles.
