I know that it is probably problematic in some way or another for me to say this, but, for just about my whole life, there have been very few things I have wanted to achieve more than a movie montage-worthy glow up. You know the kind I’m talking about–it’s the type of slow motion, hazily lit scene that involves someone, like, coming back to school after summer vacation and having people really notice her for the first time.
You know. Because she’s glowy.
And, to be clear, glowing up doesn’t always have to be purely physical–often, the best kind of glow ups come from within. Basically, as long as you’re doing something that makes you feel good, you’re glowing up.So, check out these super-simple ways for you to glow up every day–whatever that means to you:
1. Start off by making it easier to wake up in the morning:
The best way to ensure you have a great day? Actually feeling motivated to get out of bed in the morning. You can do this by following the steps above.
2. Use a special alarm to make waking up easier:
Recently, I started using an app called Alarmy, which makes you complete a task on your phone before the alarm shuts off. This ensures that you actually get out of bed on time instead of pressing the Snooze button a thousand times.
3. Try to do yoga when you first wake up:
This helps get your blood moving and makes you feel more awake right when you wake up, which, as a result, will help you feel much ~glowier~ throughout the rest of the day.
4. Drink lemon water throughout the day:
This is full of vitamin C, which can help you prevent sickness in the coming colder months. Plus, it just tastes good.
5. Or, if you don’t like lemon water, try other fruit-flavored water:
Basically, if you have fruit at home, stick it in some water and drink it. You can still eat the fruit afterwards, too, so it’s not like it’s going to go to waste.
6. Either way, make sure you’re drinking water:
You already know why–it helps flush toxins out of your body, can clear up your skin, and, most importantly, makes you feel good. Which is the glowiest thing of all!
7. Do a weekly face mask:
If you’re ever just feeling a little bleh, it’s worth trying putting on a face mask. It’s obviously not going to work an immediate miracle (on your face or your crabby mood!), but it can help wake you up and refresh your perspective.
8. Got split ends, but don’t feel like going in for a haircut? Try these tips:
Is it going to totally heal your split ends? No. Only a cut can do that. Still, trying these tips will definitely help prolong the time you have between trims.
9. Deal with rogue pimples with this hack:
If you have a big, noticeable pimple that doesn’t seem to be affected by concealer, try this hack that uses an ice cube and eye drops–the ice cube helps reduce swelling and the eye drops diminish the redness.
10. Trying a new skincare product? Know exactly how long you need to keep up with it before you see results:
When you’re trying something new, it can be easy to get frustrated and stop using it if you don’t see results within, like, a week. But with some products, you need to use them for a while before changes start happening. Know what’s up so you don’t have to give up on any more products!
11. Do yoga before bed:
After a long, glowy day, you need to have a good night’s sleep–the best way to do that is by doing some stretches before bed so you can fall asleep ASAP.
