It seems like a new makeup product is released every single day. This is really exciting for anyone who is beauty obsessed enough to spend a good portion of their money at Sephora, or beauty bloggers and vloggers, who typically get gifted with this stuff and have more opportunity to try it out. But for anyone who is on a beauty budget? It can be overwhelming and kind of upsetting. After all, no one can possibly buy everything!
So, at that point, you look at product reviews with this question in mind: which new makeup is actually worth spending your money on? You want something that works, is long-lasting, versatile, and of course, fun. You probably also want something that is aesthetically pleasing and made to show off on Instagram, but obviously, the most important thing about it is whether or not it works. Products have different results for everyone, but I find that firsthand reviews are always the most helpful! That’s why, from now on, I’ll be doing regular features on which new products are worth your money and time – at least, I hope they will be! Nothing is a guarantee, but hey, it’s better to read an honest review than nothing at all.
Since you should be transitioning your makeup routine from summer to fall the same way you’d do that with your wardrobe, there are lots of new products you should try out. This season is good, guys – I don’t know how you’re going to pick just a few! Here are some new makeup products for fall that are actually worth your money:
1. Fenty Beauty Pro Filt’r Soft Matte Longwear Foundation
Rihanna just launched her much anticipated makeup line in time for the new fall season, and everyone wants to know how it is. Honestly? It is just as amazing as you would think it is. The highlighter might be the star of the line, but my personal favorite is the foundation. It offers a medium coverage, but is super buildable. It’s matte without being too matte and it just feels really nice on your skin. The best part, though, is that there are so many different shades meant to cover ladies who are albino to much darker skinned. It’s probably the most diverse foundation shade line out there!
Fenty Beauty Pro Filt’r Soft Matte Longwear Foundation, $34, Sephora
2. Too Faced Peach Kiss Moisture Matte Long Wear Lipstick
Another huge launch for fall was the Too Faced Peach collection, which has gained cult status for the brand. I got a bunch of the Peach Kiss lipsticks, and damn, I really love them. The colors are beautiful – all various shades of peach, some brighter, some more nude – and the packaging is adorable. The lipsticks smell and taste like peaches, which is a really nice surprise. They also feel great and last a long time. I barely had to reapply when wearing one for an entire day of work (and eating).
Too Faced Peach Kiss Moisture Matte Long Wear Lipstick, $21, Sephora
3. Stila One Step Prime
Looking for a good primer? I’m obsessed with this new addition to Stila Cosmetics. This One Step Primer is super lightweight and almost feels more like a light moisturizer than a primer. It’s really hydrating and sinks into the skin quickly. Depending on what they’re supposed to do for skin, primers can feel heavy and a little oily, but not this one. It’s ideal for anyone who wants a light primer with extra hydration.
Stila One Step Prime, $36, Sephora
4. Dolce & Gabbana Miss Sicily Lipstick
This new lipstick line is, obviously, inspired by the feminine beauty of women in Sicily. The color for any of the 16 shades has as much pigment as a good lipstick with the shine of lip gloss and the feeling of lip balm. The shades are bold and beautiful – my personal favorite is Caterina – and they feel wonderful. It’s a little bit of a splurge for lipstick, but you’ll feel fancy every time you wear them.
Dolce & Gabbana Miss Sicily Lipstick, $36, Saks Fifth Avenue
5. Smith & Cult Book of Eyes Eye Quad Palette in Song For Fields
If you haven’t tried Smith & Cult yet, you need to, right now. The brand makes gorgeous products that work like a dream and have the most chic packaging. I love one of their new fall launches, the Song For Fields eye shadow palette. It’s a small palette (which makes it great for traveling), but the shadows are really pigmented. The four shades mean you can go for a more neutral look or something sexy and daring.
Smith & Cult Book of Eyes Eye Quad Palette in Song For Fields, $44, Smith & Cult
6. Lancome Monsieur Big Mascara
I’m super picky about mascara, but I really love this new option from Lancome. The brush is really big (which I personally love) and makes your lashes look so full and long. I also love the cutesy name!
Lancome Monsieur Big Mascara, $25, Lancome
7. Sephora Collection Make No Mistake High Coverage Concealer
I’m a big fan of Sephora Collection makeup. It’s really affordable and great quality. I love their Make No Mistake concealer because it offers so much coverage and comes in a wide variety of shade. It doesn’t feel too heavy and it blends easily. If you’re looking for a new concealer, this one is absolutely worth a try!
Sephora Collection Make No Mistake High Coverage Concealer, $14, Sephora
8. Becca Velvet Blurring Primer
Okay friends, it’s time to talk about how much I freakin’ love this primer. It makes my skin look more matte than any other primer I’ve tried without making it feel oily – and, for some reason, a lot of matte primers make me feel oily. As soon as you put it on your skin, even a small amount, you’ll notice the blurring effect. It literally wipes away imperfections and makes your skin look more smooth immediately. It sinks right into skin and it’s super lightweight. Honestly? It’s one of the best primers I’ve ever used.
Becca Velvet Blurring Primer, $38, Sephora
9. Tarte Clay Play Face Shaping Palette
This primer will quickly become your new go-to makeup product, because it pretty much offers it all. It includes neutral eye shadow shades to contour your eyes, contouring shades for your face, and even some shades you could use as makeshift highlighter or bronzer. I love the versatility of the palette and how the shades are so easy to play with.
Tarte Clay Play Face Shaping Palette, $46, Tarte
10. Birchbox: Meet The Latest and Greatest Box
This limited edition Birchbox box doesn’t hold new fall launches, but it does include a bunch of great beauty products for an awesome price – actually, Birchbox’s best products for 2017. There’s a Starskin mask, a Oaui Dry Shampoo Foam, lip masks, R&Co texture spray, a small Mac lipstick, a small Stila glitter eye shadow, a small Benefit blush, and more. It’s a really great deal, and sometimes it’s fun to just play around with some new products!
Birchbox: Meet The Latest and Greatest Box, $49, Birchbox
11. Marc Jacobs Beauty Fashion Collection Le Marc Lip Creme
The Signature Lip. Legendary artist, @diane.kendal, created the custom shade for the #MJFW17 show by custom blending #LeMarc Lip Crèmes in Blacquer and Blow. ✨🎶💋✌🏾🖤🔑💄⠀⠀ ⠀⠀ Get the look instantly with the new, Limited Edition Le Marc Lip Crème in Trax, a creamy black-burgundy. The shade is inspired by Marc's beloved maroon track pants that he's had for 15 years. #MarcJacobsBeauty
This limited edition shade was blended specifically with Fashion Week in mind, and won’t be around forever – so get it while you can! The shade is called Trax and is a mix of black and burgundy (a blend of two other shades, Blacquer and Blow). I love Marc Jacobs lipstick because it truly feels incredibly (never dry) and lasts forever with terrific pigment. This dark shade is perfect for fall and winter weather.
Marc Jacobs Beauty Fashion Collection Le Marc Lip Creme, $30, Sephora
12. Too Faced Peach Perfect Comfort Matte Foundation
Okay, I love this foundation. I really, really love it, which I’m not that surprised about, because Born This Way (another Too Faced foundation) is another one of my favorites. First of all, it smells like peaches and coconut, which is just lovely. Second, it’s lightweight with great coverage and doesn’t leave me feeling oily or weird. It stays on for hours and it goes on so easily. It’s also a lot of product so it should last you a while.
Too Faced Peach Perfect Comfort Matte Foundation, $36, Sephora
13. Peter Thomas Roth Skin To Die For No-Filter Mattifying Primer & Complexion Corrector
To be honest, I feel #blessed to live in a season where there are so many fantastic primers out there. This one from Peter Thomas Roth is amazing because it works double duty: it gives off a matte look to cover imperfections while also actively fighting those imperfections. Peter Thomas Roth delivers incredible skincare products, so it’s no surprise that the first primer in the line is great as makeup and skincare in one.
Peter Thomas Roth Skin To Die For No-Filter Mattifying Primer & Complexion Corrector, $28, Sephora
14. Bite Beauty Matte Creme Lip Crayon
This fall, Bite Beauty has introduced four new nude shades in the Matte Creme Lip Crayon collection, and they are absolutely worth buying. Bite makes some of my favorite lipsticks of all time, and the lip crayon is no exception. It feels creamy, it offers color that lasts for hours, and the sharper tip makes it easy to apply with precision.
Bite Beauty Matte Creme Lip Crayon, $24, Sephora
15. Benefit Cosmetics Foolproof Brow Powder
It’s hard not to think of amazing brows when you think of Benefit, and products like this one are a big reason why. The Foolproof Brow Powder really does make application foolproof, even for a beauty beginner. The packaging shows the two shades of powder as they should be applied on your brows, making for the most natural look out there.
Benefit Cosmetics Foolproof Brow Powder, $24, Sephora
16. Lipstick Queen Nothing But The Nudes
Lipstick Queen lives up to the name – the lipsticks are truly wonderful. I love the new Nothing But The Nudes collection, which includes various nude shades that are super flattering. The colors are creamy and feel great, and give off that look of “your lips but better.” I’m also really into the minimalistic packaging.
Lipstick Queen Nothing But The Nudes, $24, Ulta
17. Too Faced I Want Kandee Candy Eyes
Another big Too Faced launch for fall was their collaboration with beauty blogger Kandee Johnson. One of my favorite items from the line is the I Want Kandee Candy Eyes palette, which is just so beautiful to look at. There are flat shades and shimmery shades, and they can create fun, peachy looks, neutral looks, or something a little more dramatic. You won’t find anything super dark here aside from one shade, but sometimes you need a palette like that! I also love the tin packaging.
Too Faced I Want Kandee Candy Eyes, $45, Too Faced
18. Laura Mercier Take A Powder Translucent Loose Setting Powder
Laura Mercier is one of my favorite beauty brands because they consistently deliver high-quality products that have chic AF packaging. The Translucent Setting Powder is just one example – this super light powder goes on smoothly and doesn’t leave a residue or icky feeling. It sets your makeup and gives you a subtle glow. Oh, and the fluffy applicator that comes with it is pretty hard to resist.
Laura Mercier Take A Powder Translucent Loose Setting Powder, $42, Sephora
19. eos Crystal Lip Balm
You know eos because of their colorful, fun, egg-shaped packaging, so it might seem kind of strange for their newest lip balm to be… totally clear. But it’s not! This wax-free lip balm is made with ultra nourishing natural oils and leaves a light shine that feels great on your lips. It’s perfect for chillier weather.
eos Crystal Lip Balm, $4.99, Ulta
20. Urban Decay Naked Skin Weightless Ultra Definition Liquid Makeup
The weightless formula of this new foundation from Urban Decay makes you feel like you aren’t wearing makeup, but the coverage is definitely still on point. It’s also luminizing and gives off a demi-matte finish. So, it’s not 100 percent matte, which means you shouldn’t wear it if you have really oily skin. But if you’re looking for a more radiant foundation, this is a terrific option.
Urban Decay Naked Skin Weightless Ultra Definition Liquid Makeup, $40, Urban Decay
21. Sara Happ Plump and Prime Lip Airbrush
A lip primer isn’t 100 percent necessary, but if you wear lipstick a lot, especially matte lipstick, then you should definitely try it out. This one from Sara Happ leaves your lips look more full and hydrated, and just generally sinks in and feels great. You can use it on your own, or you can wear it under your lipstick for a look that will last all day long without feeling gross.
Sara Happ Plump and Prime Lip Airbrush, $28, Sara Happ
22. Marc Jacobs Beauty Fashion Collection Velvet Crew
Introducing Velvet Crew, the limited-edition collection of bestselling #VelvetNoir Major Volume Mascara, award-winning #Highliner Gel Eye Crayon in #Blacquer, Fineliner Ultra-Skinny Gel Eye Crayon in Blacquer(berry) and an exclusive, collectible makeup bag, straight from the #MJFW17 fashion show. 📷 via @sephora
This limited edition Marc Jacobs set is worth the money. It includes two gel eye crayons and Velvet Noir Major Volume Mascara. So, this is one of my favorite mascaras ever. It makes your lashes look great but never clumpy, and it’s super simple to wipe off, but never flakes. It also lasts forever! I’ve been using the same bottle all summer and I still haven’t run out. The eye crayons are also great – they go on smoothly and last for hours. All of this comes in a really cute little makeup bag to use throughout the whole fall.
Marc Jacobs Beauty Fashion Collection Velvet Crew, $49, Sephora
23. BareMinerals barePro Performance Wear Liquid Foundation Broad Spectrum SPF 20
BareMinerals is known for their amazing foundation powder, and this liquid foundation is just as good. It offers a little SPF protection, which is still important even when you aren’t in the sun all day. It also boasts 24 hour coverage, makes your skin look great, and doesn’t feel too heavy.
BareMinerals barePro Performance Wear Liquid Foundation Broad Spectrum SPF 20, $34, Ulta
24. It Cosmetics Bye Bye Redness Correcting Cream
I like the entire Bye Bye Redness line from It Cosmetics, but the correcting cream is probably my favorite. It’s great for irritated skin that tends to look red as it cancels out any redness and leaves skin looking flawless. Layer it under foundation to really make your skin look awesome. I do wish there were some darker shade options here, though.
It Cosmetics Bye Bye Redness Correcting Cream, $32, It Cosmetics
25. Kat Von D Shade & Light Creme Contour Refillable Palette
There are a lot of great things about this face palette: the formula is creamy and light and goes on so smoothly. The palette is refillable, meaning you can pop out the color you don’t want and swap it with something else (they can be purchased individually). Lastly, these shades look natural and really make skin look flawless.
Kat Von D Shade & Light Creme Contour Refillable Palette, $49, Sephora

Another item from the Too Faced and Kandee Johnson line that I love is the Banana Pudding. It’s essentially a setting powder that makes your skin look like perfection – and the best part? It smells like bananas.
Too Faced I Want Kandee Banana Pudding, $30, Too Faced
27. Stila Stay All Day Cover Powder Finish Foundation and Cream Concealer
This Stila product is a foundation and concealer all in one. It blends easily, and the new stick formula makes it so easy to apply it on the go or anywhere. It goes on as more of a creamy solid, and dries to a powder finish, which is just really cool and unique.
Stila Stay All Day Cover Powder Finish Foundation and Cream Concealer, $36, Ulta
28. Buxom Metalix Lip Glide
I think this photo of Buxom’s new Metalix Lip Glide speaks for itself. The shades are gorgeous, and the shiny look is a welcome change from the super matte look that has been dominating the lipstick world. It’s also a more subtle metallic than something too over the top.
Buxom Metalix Lip Glide, $22, Sephora
