7 Weird Side Effects Of Your Period

What is the one thing that everyone with a vagina can relate to? Periods. More specifically, how terrible periods can be. They always come at the worst time, like before a big test, or right when you are going on a fun vacation, and they ruin everything for about five to seven days. The only positive thing we can take away from it is that we can all suffer together. And, as if getting your period wasn’t awful enough, there are a ton of pretty effing weird side effects that come with it.

Yes, there is the bleeding and the cramps (fun!) but there are also the side effects that not many people talk about. It’s important that we talk about them so that you get more familiar with what’s going on with your body every 28 days. I’m sure we all know how awful periods are, and these side effects don’t make it any easier. But, you should still be aware of the weird things that happen. So, take a look at these weird side effects of your period so that you can be a little more aware of what’s going on with your body.

Story time: one time, I was at the dentist, and I started complaining to my dentist that it was painful. She asked if I was on my period, and I was like "uh..yeah?" Supposedly, being on your period can make you more sensitive to pain, even if you don't have cramps or other painful side effects.  Weird, right? Just goes to show how strong people with vaginas are!

You Might Feel A Little Clumsy

Yes, I know we are all clumsy in our own way, but your period can actually make you significantly more clumsy than normal. This is because your high estrogen levels can trigger hormones that cause fluid retention in your brain, making it harder for you to keep your balance when you're on your period. Yikes! Just be a little cautious when it's your time of the month.
