Do you look great first thing in the morning when you wake up? Great. I am happy for you. As Post Malone, the human manifestation of a paradox (Why have we accepted him as part of our lives? Why don’t I mind?!?) might say, “Congratulations.” I, however, cannot relate.
And, for what it is worth, I have good reason to believe that the majority of people who have continued to read this also cannot relate. Most of us do not wake up looking totally, I don’t know, like our best selves. And that’s fine! There are far more important things in this world than waking up looking conventionally beautiful! Still, there are some things you can do to look a little bit more like your best self when you wake up in the morning. So, check out these easy ways to wake up looking (and feeling) great every day:
1. Actually wash your face:
You know this. I know this. But, all the same, you need to make sure you wash your face every single night before bed, especially if you wear makeup. Otherwise, you’ll wake up with breakouts and dull-looking skin.
2. Eat citrus fruit before bed:
If you need a snack before bed, try eating a citrus fruit like grapefruit or an orange. This is a hydrating, anti-inflammatory food that will help you feel fresh when you wake up in the morning.
3. Drink herbal tea:
This is another good way to hydrate and reduce inflammation. Plus, starting a ritual of drinking tea every night before bed could relax you and make it easier to fall asleep.
4. Put dry shampoo in your hair before bed:
If your hair tends to look greasy in the morning, but you don’t want (or have time) to wash it, put some dry shampoo in your hair before going to bed. This will help absorb the oil overnight so your hair looks good when you wake up.
5. Or try an overnight hairstyle:
If you like washing your hair before bed, try doing an overnight hairstyle. This way, you can undo it as soon as you get up and your hair will look great all day.
6. Put cream under your eyes:

Truthfully, most eye cream isn’t any different from regular moisturizer. Still, putting some moisturizer under your eyes before you go to bed–whether it’s eye cream or regular moisturizer–can make a big difference when you wake up in the morning. If you get puffy eyes in the morning and want to reduce it, try an eye cream that contains caffeine. This helps reduce water retention, which contributes to puffiness.
7. Try an overnight mask:
Once or twice a week, put on this face mask before going to bed. When you wake up, you’ll have a nice, natural glow.
8. Use a steam diffuser:
Buy this for $59 from Urban Outfitters
This puts essential oils into the room in the form of steam, which provides a mostiruzing and de-stressing effect.
9. Try an overnight face oil:
If your skin gets dry overnight, try using a face oil. This can be heavy, so try to only use it in small increments (or start using it only once or twice a week), but it’s a great way to combat dull, dry, skin, especially as the winter gets started.
10. Know how to treat your pimples overnight:
If you have a pimple, and don’t have any pimple cream on hand to treat it, try using some of these methods to treat it.
11. Wear an eye mask:

If you sleep well, you’ll look good the next day. Wearing an eye mask can help cancel out excess light in the room, which, in turn, will help you sleep better, wake up better, and feel better the whole next day.
