Ah…boobs. They are really fun and cool right? They are big and baggy and just hanging from our bodies every single day. You are so used to them, you don’t even think twice about it. But, you really should be paying attention to your boobs, since they can tell you some interesting things about what’s happening to your body. In a way…your boobs are sort of like Magic 8 Balls that tell you what’s going on with your body. Ha! Get it?! Okay, I’ll admit that that analogy was really weird but just stick with me here.
If there is something going on with your boobs, it normally means that there is something else going on with your body, and it’s important to figure that out ASAP. Obviously, your boobs can’t tell you everything that’s happening inside of you, but they can give you some clues. It’s really important to be aware of things happening to your body, so that if something feels “off” you can get checked out ASAP. But, most of the time, your body just does weird stuff and it’s nothing to worry about. If you’ve noticed some changes in your body, take a look at these weird things that your boobs might be telling you.
You're Allergic To Your BraEven if you're not allergic to the detergent you use, you very well could be allergic to the underwire in your bra, which is commonly made of nickel. If you are getting itchy under your boobs, you might want to try a wireless bra, or go braless. It's 2017! You do you. Image Source: iStock
You're Not Washing Your Bra EnoughI hate to break it to you, but a lot of people don't wash their bras enough. If you don't wash your bra, bacteria and sweat can build up under your boob and cause a rash or even a bacterial infection. YIKES. Wash your bras, girls. Image Source: iStock
You're Exercising Too MuchIf you are doing too many chest or arm exercises, it can impact your boobs. It's actually your pectoral muscles that get sore, but a lot of people mistakes it for boob pain. Just be aware if you are doing a lot of pushups! Image Source: iStock
You're Losing WeightIf your boobs are getting smaller, it could be a sign that you are losing a lot of weight. Breasts are made up of fatty tissues, so if you start shedding pounds, your boobs are the first to lose weight. Sorry! It could also be an early sign that your period is coming. Image Source: iStock
You're Gaining WeightJust like losing weight, gaining weight can cause your boobs to get bigger. It's not really a big deal if your boobs get bigger (most people WANT their boobs to get bigger) but if one is getting significantly larger than the other, it could be an early sign of breast cancer. If you're worried, be sure to call a doctor. Image Source: iStock
You're Getting Your PeriodYes, this one is obvious, but I'm throwing it in here anyway. Your period does weird stuff to your body, and your fluctuating hormones can cause a ton of things like boob pain or soreness. If your boobs are starting to hurt around the same time every month, they are giving you a warning that your monthly visor is coming. Image Source: iStock
You're PregnantOkay, I don't want to freak you out here. Your boobs CAN tell you you're pregnant, but if you have boob pain, don't automatically assume you are growing a baby inside of you. There are many reasons for breast pain, and pregnancy is only one of them. If your boobs hurt, you've missed your period, and you recently had unprotected sex, you might need to call your gyno. You Might Have Breast CancerAgain, this isn't the most common thing, but it IS good to be aware of how your boobs feel on a regular basis. You probably don't have breast cancer, it's just something to be aware of. If you notice hard lumps, you should always call your doctor ASAP. Be sure to get super familiar with your boobs so that you will definitely notice if something weird is going on. Image Source: iStock
