If you’ve been paying attention, you’ll most likely have noticed an increase in glitter, rainbows, and Babadook-related content on your various feeds. This is for a pretty simple reason–it’s Pride Month. Pride Month, if you aren’t aware, is a celebration of LGBTQ+ people that occurs every June in order to commemorate the anniversary of the 1969 Stonewall Riots.
In a time when gay rights are becoming increasingly encroached upon, Pride is perhaps more important than it has been over the past couple of years, serving as both a celebration of gay visibility and an act of resistance through this visibility. And the best way to get those messages across, of course, is by utilizing good ol’ cardboard, markers, and the best wordplay you can come up with to make some pretty badass signs. And, fortunately, this month’s pride festivities–much like the ones at the Women’s March in January–definitely delivered on the signs
