12 Products That Will Definitely Make Your Pores Look Smaller

Look, we all have pores, those little ducts on our face that house hair follicles and release our body’s natural oils. So why are they considered a damn near curse word? Well, because pores can get clogged and cause zits and some pores are bigger than others. Thanks to genetics, some people have pores that are so small that they’re damn near invisible. Others, well, they’re larger and a lot more noticeable; I’m of the last group, and I’ve got to say: Having large pores can suck. Having oily skin can make big pores look even larger, they can be tricky to mask with makeup, and there’s nothing you can really do to make them smaller. Yes, that’s right, any skincare or makeup product that claims to be able to make your pores shrink are lying. So if you have big pores now, you’ll likely have big pores for the rest of your life.

It’s not the end of the world, though. Seriously, do not get hung up on pores, life is too effing short. Having big pores won’t prevent you from finding love, or having an awesome career, or kicking general ass in your life. But if you’re self conscious about them, it’s fair to want some solution to help ease your insecurities just a bit. Trust, me and my massive pores have been there, and there’s no shame in wanting your pores to be a little more low key. But where to start? Whether you take the skincare approach, the makeup approach, or both, check out these products that will make your pores look smaller.

1. Tonymoly I’m Real Red Wine Sheet Mask

2. Peter Thomas Roth Pore Putty

People swear by this skincare product. Sure, it won’t physically make your pores smaller, but after one use, users claim that their pores are a lot less noticeable. That’s enough for me!

Buy it at Sephora for $38.

3. Benefit Porefessional Face Primer

Benefit Cosmetics The POREfessional Face Primer

This is a classic that has been a top primer according to beauty gurus for ages. If you’re worried about your pores looking more emphasized after putting on makeup, slather some of this on your face ahead of time.

Buy it at Sephora from $12-$49.

4. NYX Pore Filler Primer

If the Benefit primer is out of your price range, the NYX Pore Filler Primer is an awesome dupe that does the exact same thing at a fraction of the price…just with slightly more boring packaging.

Buy it at Ulta for $13.99.

5. Boscia Charcoal Pore Pudding

Boscia is famous for their peel off mask that people absolutely love, but a friend of mine actually thinks that their charcoal pore pudding actually does a much better job. If you’re not really keen on peeling a mask off your face–for some, it’s super painful–this might be your next best bet.

Buy it at Sephora for $38.

BECCA Ever-Matte Shine Proof Foundation

As a walking greaseball, it’s so important for me to find a foundation that won’t make me super oily or make pores come out to play. That’s why I swear by BECCA’s ever-matte foundation to get the job done without drying my skin out. It’s pricey, but worth it IMO.

Buy it at Sephora for $42.

7. Drunk Elephant Suski Babyfacial

Cosrx Bha Blackhead Power Liquid

BHAs are awesome because they’re chemical exfoliants that actually penetrate the pore and help prevent gunk from building up. That gunk is what can make pores look more noticeable. Applying this liquid after cleansing your face will help get your pores in shape.

Buy it at Amazon for $18.69.

CLINIQUE Pore Refining Solutions Charcoal Mask

I use this mask at least once a week. It can get a little messy, but it’s always worth it because it really looks and feels like it’s getting the job done. What job? The charcoal helps draw out excess sebum and other impurities from the pores. So when you rinse it off it’s like having a brand new face.

Buy it at Sephora for $25.

11. Dr Jart Pore Minimalist Black Charcoal Sheet Mask

Dr Jart Pore Minimalist Black Charcoal Sheet Mask
