If you are familiar with the iconic scene from The OC when Sandy Cohen gives Seth Cohen the “sex talk,” then you are familiar with how important foreplay is when you’re having sex. If you’re not familiar, here it is, but I’ll recap it for you anyway. After having sex for the first time, Seth goes to his dad for advice, (a thing that I do not recommend, but whatever, it’s fine, it’s not important). Sandy then tells him that if sex is the “main course,” then foreplay is “the appetizer.” Despite that cringe-worthy metaphor, he does make a good point. Even though TV shows and movies like to give the illusion that sex can just happen at any moment in time, it’s not really like that. You need foreplay in order to warm up before having sex. And you need to know how to do it right.
Foreplay isn’t just “pre-sex making out,” even though that might be what you think it is. There’s more to it than just kissing, and there are many benefits to enjoy: you get more excited down there, which means more natural lubricant and less-painful sex. Plus, it builds up anticipation. So, not only is it fun, it also leads to an all around better sexual experience for everyone. If you don’t know how to do that, don’t worry, we’ve got these easy foreplay tips that will make sex even better.
