Sometimes love can make people do some, uh, crazy things. These things might not all be terrible – maybe they’re a little creepy or cringeworthy. Sure, you might memorize your crush’s class schedule in order to “accidentally” knock into them in the hallway at school, or casually bring up their favorite movie in conversation, and act surprised when they say “that’s my favorite movie too!” but that’s not too weird. I mean, I am guilty of doing all of these things in high school, but whatever. What I’m getting at here is that there are some things that you do to impress a crush or a significant other that can be harmless, and other things that can be weird AF. Since we all love second-hand embarrassment, I’m going to share some stories about the latter.
When it comes to romantic gestures, there is a fine line between “cute” and “incredibly creepy.” Someone might think that their romantic gesture is unique and fun, but, in reality, it is weird and sometimes even illegal. It could actually even end up ruining a relationship. The silver lining? These experiences can make for some great stories, as some Reddit users proved recently in a thread entitled “What is the creepiest/cringiest thing someone has done to prove their love to you?” OH BOY are the responses a mixture of hilarious and incredibly disturbing. Obviously, I had to share them with you guys, so check out these creepiest things people have done to their SO.
Force-Feed Them Cakelittlemisschromie said, "My boyfriend at the time made me a cake for my birthday but wouldn't let me share it with anyone because he 'made it for me.' So I basically had to eat an entire birthday cake by myself. Very strange." Really makes you wonder WTF was in that cake? Was it even good? And how rude is it to deny people cake at a birthday party? I have so many questions. Image Source: iStock
Bleed On Their Personal Propertynoisypeach said,"We were 14, I think. He cut his arm with his compass in a quiet part of class and then bled on a page of my notebook. Then said, 'my life and blood are yours, my Queen.' We hardly knew each other." Okay real talk: if a person every draws blood for you it is a bad sign. Get OUT of that relationship ASAP. Even if they call you a queen. It's not worth it!! Image Source: iStock
Write A Play About Themthemightyscott said, "A woman once wrote a play about me and had it performed at university second year. There was an entire drama department involved and it was performed in front of hundreds of people. To say it was awkward is an understatement." In theory, this could be kind of cute. But judging on this person's response, it didn't seem to be very cute. Image Source: iStock
Jumped In Front Of Their Carjujube73 said, "Told him I wouldn't date him so he rode his bike into the front of my truck while I was going like 5mph in a parking lot, dramatically threw himself over my hood and acted like he was dying so people would call 911. He thought he could guilt me into dating him." The amount of people hurting themselves for other people is very concerning, TBH. Please...don't date anyone who would do this to you. Become...Immortal?Sagittariums said, "I had a girl in high school who had a crush on me. She also believed that she was like, a fairy princess from another realm and she had twin daughters there and ruled over it all or something? I didn't understand it then, and I definitely don't now. Long story short she wound up telling me that she was stuck in our realm because she was giving her immortality up for my love." I'm...not really sure how to comment on this one. I genuinely hope that girl is okay now, though. Image Source: iStock
Sniff Their Socksburgermachine said, "Sniffed my socks I just took off. The he says in front of my parents and grandparents 'ahhhh sweet nectar.'" This is excessive, not to mention GROSS. I don't mean to kink shame but...think of the poor grandparents who had to witness this. Image Source: iStock
Send Inappropriate Snapchatsplax1780 said, "One of my exes Snapchatted herself masturbating with my Xbox controller." I am genuinely confused and slightly upset that this happened. Side note: don't ever masurbate with an Xbox controller. Or any type of controller, for that matter. Image Source: iStock
Wait In A Trunksam2250 said, "I broke up with my boyfriend of three years in high school. His older sister drove to my house and asked me to sit in her car and talk about it. She was cool, so I did. After trying to persuade me to take him back, and me strongly refusing she tells me she has something for me in the trunk. We get out, go back and open the trunk and he is in the trunk. Crying and begging me to get back with him. I refused." How long was he in the trunk for? This is very concerning. Image Source: iStock
Have Their Dad Calldinosaregaylikeme said, "I broke up with some dude because he was trying to get into my pants and I wasn't ready for sex yet. He f*cking called his dad and his dad yelled at me." This is gross! You should never feel pressured to have sex with anyone, EVEN if their dad calls you. WTF. Image Source: iStock
