Tumblr is the worst website in the world. I know this to be true because I am on Tumblr more or less every single day of my life, and every time I choose to get on Tumblr, I find myself saying, involuntarily, “I hate Tumblr,” or “this is the worst thing I have ever seen,” or, simply, moaning aloud, Tina Belcher-style, at the horrors placed before me on my dashboard.
There are a number of hazards that one can run into on Tumblr–the most well-known being, probably, the tendency that literal hard-core porn has of showing up at random, inopportune moments, such as when you are in public and decide to check up on your mobile Tumblr app and turn around and see your seventh grade English teacher standing behind you with an expression that can only come from finding out that one of her former students is the type of person who enjoys looking at porn gifs in public, for example. But another, less discussed Tumblr risk is the one of coming across a post that is just bad. Not in the inappropriate sense, necessarily, but more because it has some sort of haunting, Cursed Image-type quality that ensures it will be staying with the viewer for years to come.
Does this mean that I will end my career as a Tumblr user? No. Of course not. The internet is my job, first of all. Also, I have (unfortunately) grown to love the pain that a spectacularly terrible Tumblr post can give me, and, based on the number of notes I see on posts that also bear the caption “I hate this website,” I suspect I am not alone. Anyway, every single one of these things here have haunted me to my core and will stay with me for the rest of my life, probably. Check ’em out here:
