8 Ways To Tell If Bae Is Actually Serious About The Relationship

There are a lot of questions I ask myself in relationships, but one of the ones that is always nagging me is “Is bae actually serious about this relationship?” Of course I’m worried about other things, but they all seem to go back to that big question. And it’s not like bae has to have done/not done something for me to think it.

It’s something that’s always in the back of my mind and I’m guessing that it’s the same for you. When you’re in a relationship, you’re committing your time and your heart, so you want to make sure that the other person is as serious as you are, right?

If you find the question keeps popping into your head, too, I’ve rounded up some ways that will hopefully make it easier to tell just how serious bae is. Once you think through them, you’ll hopefully be able to come up with a more definitive answer about your SO and your relationship. These are the ways to tell if bae is actually serious about your relationship.

Your SO Tells You How He/She Feels

Has bae told you how he/she feels about this relationship? If you're nodding, that's good. It doesn't need to be a massive declaration of love. Even if bae just says that he/she's happy with what you have going on, that is good. It means things are headed in a positive direction.

Your SO Talks About The Future

Okay, so maybe bae isn't talking about engagements, living together, and marriage quite yet. No big deal. That's heavy stuff. However, if your SO is talking about what you'd like to do together in the next couple of months, that's bueno. Maybe he/she is discussing things like the holidays or a weekend away together. That means that he/she is into this relationship and wants to take it somewhere.

Bae Tries To Make You Happy

Does bae try to brighten your day with a cute text message or does he/she bring you some soup when you're under the weather? Does your SO call just to see how you're doing? It might not be these exact things, but the point is that if bae is going out of his/her way to make sure you're comfortable and happy, it's good regardless of what the specific act is.

Your SO Thinks Of You Two As A Team

Is it all me, me, me, or does bae have a *we're in this together* sort of attitude? If your SO thinks of you as a team that is ready to take on the world together, things are looking good.

Bae Cares About Your Feelings

It's one thing to say it, but it's another thing to show it. Does bae think about your opinions or how something would affect you before going ahead and doing it? Or does bae basically do his/her own thing and seem genuinely surprised when you ask if he/she thought about how this would impact you.

Your SO Is Planning For The Future

Talking is good, but planning is even better. Has bae made concrete plans with you about something in the future? It doesn't need to be months ahead of time. It doesn't even need to be anything big. It could be something like going to a concert together in the summer or spending a night at his/her aunt's cabin over spring break.

Bae Commits To Things

Does bae make plans with you and actually keep them? Or do the majority of your plans result in bae cancelling at the last minute because something came up? If bae commits to those plans and seems to have a good time when you're together, things are looking good.

Bae Actually Refers To Your Relationship As A Relationship

It might seem like an obvious one, but does bae actually call what you've got going on a relationship? Does he/she refer to you as his/her girlfriend? Or does any talk of labels have your SO squirming? If you cannot remember bae ever calling what you've got going on a *relationship* and you consider it to be one, it might be time to assess the situation together.
