I am very, very lazy. So lazy that it took me days to start writing this post (kidding, sort of). But, even though I am incredibly lazy, that doesn’t mean that I am necessarily a bad person, right? Well, I really did think I was a bad person, and then I recently came upon some startling new evidence that proves that being lazy is actually a good thing. It can actually even be a sign of intelligence. WHAT?! There really are some benefits to avoiding all of your chores and responsibilities – I can’t wait to tell my parents that! Okay, maybe not ALL of them, but you get what I mean. Being lazy has a bad reputation when, in reality, it can be a good thing for many people!
There are studies that prove that lazy people can be productive and successful later in life. I know it seems like an oxymoron: a successful lazy person? HOW? Well, I’m going to tell you all of the reasons why being lazy can actually be a good thing. Now, before you go and neglect every responsibility you’ve ever had, hear me out: you shouldn’t aspire to be lazy. The point of this post is to let you know that even if you are, it’s okay and you’re not a bad person at all! Here are some reasons why it’s okay to be lazy, and why you sometimes should be lazy.
You Might Be Smarter
As I was saying, there are studies that prove that people who are lazy might actually be smarter than people who are super physically active. Scientists aren't really sure why, but in a study of 60 people, the ones who were less active tended to be smarter and better thinkers. Basically, those who do more physical activities like exercising or being active aren't using their brains to its full potential, and aren't as smart as us lazy girls. You should still exercise though, since physical activity is also important. Image Source: iStockYou Know The Easy Way Out
As someone who is lazy, I can confirm that this is true. Lazy people become so accustomed to doing things "the easy way," which can actually make them better problem solvers in the long run. Lazy people don't want to waste time, so they try to get things done ASAP so that they can go on and be lazy the rest of the day, and it actually is pretty beneficial. Lazy girls love to sleep, which is actually really good! Being well-rested means that your brain gets the break it deserves, and you will be able to be more energized the next day. Even if you're lazy, you will most likely do things if you have a little bit of energy! Image Source: iStockYou'll Be Less Stressed
Lazy people generally won't take on too many tasks, which means they are not as stressed or overworked as their proactive peers. It's okay to say no to people if you don't want to do things for them. If it's too much for your lazy self to handle, don't do it! You don't need the added stress. Image Source: iStockYou'll Be More Creative
If you're lazy, you probably sleep late. If you sleep late, you actually might be more creative than your peers. But why do lazy people sleep late? Is it because they are just too lazy to wake up? Nope, it's normally because they stay up late, and people who stay up late are proven to be more creative and self-expressive. Do you ever get the urge to paint a masterpiece at midnight, or reorganize your closet at three am? You're not alone. It's a bit of a stretch, but it really makes sense if you think about it. Honestly, taking a long bubble bath can seem lazy, but it's an act of self care. You need to take care of yourself, and some people think that means going for a run or eating healthy. That's not always the case! You can be lazy and still take good care of yourself. In fact, it's really easy. Do whatever helps you relax!, whether it's watching a movie or talking a loooooong bath. You earned it. The world is hard and it's okay to be lazy sometimes. Image Source: iStockYou Finish Things Quicker
This depends on what type of lazy person you are. Certain lazy people avoid all of their work and get anxious about it. Other lazy people get their work out of the way so that they can be lazy the rest of the night, which just means they are more proactive. When you actually plan time to be lazy, you are more inclined to get your homework done so that you can do absolutely nothing the rest of the night. So, you act productive so that you can be lazy later on. Get it? It's weird, but it makes sense. Image Source: iStockAre you lazy? Do any of these tips apply to you? Tell us in the comments!
