9 Girls Explain What It’s Really Like To Go Braless

I have to confess something here: I very rarely (if ever) go out in public without a bra. I know, I wish I could be the type of girl who doesn’t care what people think and wears cute crop tops without a bra but, unfortunately, I can’t. There are a few reasons why I don’t go braless, but the main one is this: I’m nervous how people will react. I KNOW, it’s so silly because I definitely try and act like I don’t GAF about what people think, but in reality, I do. And it sucks. But honestly, I don’t think I’m alone. I know a ton of girls who go bra-free every day, but I also know a ton of girls who, like me, feel too self-conscious. As I was scrolling through Reddit’s Ask Women page (which is amazing, BTW) I came across a girl who had a similar issue as me. User imightbeaspider said, “So I’m just started to jump on the braless train, but I’m nervous. I feel like it’s super obvious so I’ve only been braless under sweaters or multiple layers. When it starts to get warmer, I’ll probably get braver, but I’m curious about other women’s experiences. Do most people notice? Do some people say things about it to you?”

Girl, I FEEL YOU on this one. It can be intimidating to get out there in the real world without a bra, especially when women are expected to always look clean and put together. I know it sucks, but running around as your girls hang free can also make it a lot easier for people to oversexualize you. In a perfect world, we wouldn’t have to worry about these things, but in our society that is filled with cat-callers, going braless can be super annoying. Luckily, many girls and women have been there, and they are happy to give advice on what it’s ACTUALLY like to go braless, and share some tips on how to do it without feeling ~weird~.
