Winter is in full swing, which means that you will probably be having some snow days soon – or days where it’s so cold you can’t imagine going outside. Even if you don’t get snow around where you live, odds are you will experience a lazy Saturday or Sunday where the sky is all dull and grey and the idea of leaving your bed sounds like the worst idea of the entire year. Either way, there will be some day soon when all you want to do is stay in bed and be comfy AF. And I’m going to tell you that that is actually a good idea. Having a lazy day can be really helpful!
I know that your parents or friends might call you a bum for spending a ~cozy~ day on yourself, but honestly, it’s important. With all of the stress our bodies go through on a daily basis, we deserve to have those sleepy days, and I’m going to tell you exactly how to do that. I know that being lazy doesn’t sound like it should come with instructions to follow, so think of these as more helpful tips than rules. They’ll help you be as cozy as you can be! Take a look at these 10 cozy ways to have a lazy day. Trust me, you’ll thank me for it.
1. Read A Book
What’s better than making a blanket fort and getting lost in a book? Nothing. Literally nothing. I know we are all busy AF this time of year, but it’s important to set some time aside to get absorbed in a good book.
2. Light Candles
What’s the easiest way to cozify yourself on a cold and lazy day? Light up your best smelling candles and bask in the coziness. The lighting will give you good and cozy vibes, which might just make you want to take a nap. BUT you really shouldn’t fall asleep when you have candles lit. That…could get messy.
3. Get Things Out Of The Way Early:
The latest Weekly Rhythms spread, as worked into my life after taking @motheringarts’s online Healthy Home Rhythms course 2 summers ago. And some flowers, of course. I imagine that this spread will change within the next couple months, as my projects and project roles change. #bulletjournal #bujo #planner #plannernerd #heartofthehome #routine #rhythm #planneraddict #plannercommunity #leuchtturm1917 @leuchtturm1917 @leuchtturm1917es #flowers #greens #makeithappen

Realistically, there will be SOMETHING on your to-do list on your lazy day. It happens! Be sure to get it out of the way early so that you can spend the rest of the day slothing around. No shame.
4. Try A Bath Bomb:
When you want to get clean but be lazy, you take a bath. When you want to get clean but be cozy, you take a bath with a bath bomb. It’s a good form of ~self care~ since you can relax, sit in colorful water and not have to worry about anything.
Okay, you know those grown-up coloring books that became so popular this year? They are actually not a bad idea. Odds are good you probably got one for Christmas (I got three) or you just have one laying around. Channel your inner childhood and spend an afternoon coloring. It really does relieve stress!
6. Wear Fuzzy Socks:
My 4 day weekend was busy , productive but overall a success! My fuzzy socks and I are cozy in bed ready to get 8 hrs of sleep so I am bright eyed and bushy tailed by 5 am. lol I have to stay focused and continue building these productive habits. (Thanks @joethacro for this wonderfully warm socks) #focus #focused #earlybird #fuzzysocks #grateful #thecompoundeffect #productive #positive #success #motivation #motivated #motivate
Do I need to explain this one? Fuzzy socks are…everything. They are a cozy day essential. They are the laziest way to keep warm. I don’t care how stupid they look, or how weird this graphic is. I’m wearing fuzzy socks right now and I feel truly blessed.
7. Watch Netflix:

This probably goes without saying, but it’s not a bad idea to spend a day watching Netflix in bed. I mean, you shouldn’t do it every day, but once in awhile, you deserve that. If you want to watch an entire season of Fuller House in one day, don’t let anyone stop you. You do you.
8. Make Hot Chocolate:
It’s a good idea to drink something warm, like tea or coffee. But it’s a GREAT idea to drink hot chocolate, since it’s been scientifically proven that hot chocolate makes your insides warm and cozy. Okay, it’s not actually scientifically proven, but it’s still a great idea. But on your fuzzy socks and drink some hot chocolate. You deserve it.
9. Bake Cookies:

This is a little bit more active, but if you have the ingredients to bake cookies, or any baked treat for that manner, DO IT. Nothing goes better with a hot cup of tea than a warm cookie.
10. Order Takeout:
You have to remember to eat when you’re having your lazy day. But, you probably don’t want to go out and eat, or exert all of that energy actually making something, so the best thing you could do for yourself is to order takeout. You can literally order a pizza from the comfort of your bed. What’s better than that? Honestly, I don’t know.
11. Sleep In:
The #1 lazy girl essential is SLEEP. If you are able to sleep in, you should TOTALLY do it. You need your beauty rest!
Okay, if you don’t know how to knit, this might not be for you. BUT if you do know how to knit, it’s a pretty mindless activity that is somehow both lazy AF and productive. You can do it while watching Netflix, and by the time you’re done with the entire season of Stranger Things, you can have a new scarf. COZY AND LAZY!
13. Online Shop:

The ~lazy~ way to get stuff done: do it on the internet! You can browse all the latest trends right from the comfort of your bed.
14. Write In Your Journal:
Writing and journaling is actually super important. It gives you an opportunity to put your thoughts and emotions down on paper. Honestly, it can help you “realize things” (thanks Kylie). You can write your goals for the week/month/year and feel a tiny bit productive, even on your lazy day.
15. Listen to music:
In my opinion, there is nothing better than making a lazy day playlist and having it on repeat while you snuggle up in your bed with some tea or a nice book.
