If there is one thing that you should know about the concept of “relationship goals” at this point–you know, the ongoing internet trend that involves rich, white, heterosexual couples taking photos together and purporting them as goals that others should be aspiring towards for their own internet gain–it is that, most of the time, they are not actually “goals,” so to speak, at all. I mean, sure, certain individual components may be goal-worthy in and of themselves (all of those couples sure do seem to be well-dressed and well-traveled!) but, on the whole, the relationship goals accounts you see on Instagram and Pinterest are not something that should necessarily be taken as a face value goal.
In fact, some relationship goals memes (they’re memes, right?) actually go beyond that vague, nebulous non-goal space–when something isn’t something you’d strive for, necessarily, but it’s also not something you’re necessarily opposed to and delve straight into being the antithesis of “goals.”–into being that you should strive to differentiate yourself from. Or, to be exact, they’re really just a reason to break up with someone altogether. So, check out these relationship goals that are pretty much just a good excuse to dump someone:
