11 Vegan Lipstick Brands That You’ll Actually Want To Use

Like most people, I suffer from a shameful, chronic affliction that forces me to threaten to become a vegan at least once a year. (I’m sure you can relate?) This usually strikes me in the summer, when I have been spending my longer evenings reading Goop and, in this impressionable state, thinking about how my life might be positively impacted by Gwyneth Paltrow-endorsed gluten-and-dairy-free cleanse. It literally never sticks, of course, due to my dual qualities of low willpower and high daily consumption of whichever dairy products are available for me that day (like, I don’t love cheese enough for me to insist that all imitation cheeses be called “Gary” as opposed to “cheese,” but I do really love cheese all the same), so, by the time it inevitably passes, I feel vaguely annoyed and disappointed in myself.

Recently, though, I’ve been feeling the urge to go vegan once more. Not in my diet (that’ll happen in a few months), but rather, in my makeup. There are so many fantastic vegan and cruelty-free makeup brands out there that it’s kind of a shame not to be adding a few to your makeup bag–most are totally affordable and they all look great. So, check out these vegan lipstick brands that are so good, you won’t even have to tell anyone that they’re vegan. I mean, you still will, probably. But you don’t *have* to, is the point. Anyway, here they are:

Obsessive Compulsive Cosmetics’ Lip Tar line is the gold standard for all planet-conscious beauty products–it’s vegan, cruelty-free, and literally does not come off.

10. Zuzu Luxe:

Zuzu Luxe is a super fun brand that you can feel good about buying, since it’s made from natural minerals, waxes, and, of course, is vegan and cruelty-free.

I’ve always sort of doubted the makeup I saw in the cosmetics aisle at Whole Foods–I had a bad experience with a compressed eyeshadow once, I think–but Mineral Fusion is actually very good. It’s also totally vegan, cruelty free, and moderately priced, so feel free to indulge.
Buy it here for $12.99
