I am just going to come out and say it: I am a very cheap person. I don’t like spending money, but I do it anyway because I have little self control. Anyone with me? No? Well, as someone who didn’t have a steady job in high school, I had to learn the hard way that you really need to budget your money when you aren’t as rich as Kylie Jenner. Sure, sometimes it can feel good to save up all your money for one jacket you’ve been dying to have, but then when you buy it, you have to start all over again and save up more money to go shopping next. It can be really frustrating!
I know we all love the thrill of going to a fancy department store and picking out a pair of really expensive jeans, but lets all be real, that is an expensive habit. You want your outfit to look on point, but it can be hard to buy the latest styles when you want to save your cash. So, how do you save money while still being able to post your trendy #OoTD to your Instagram? Don’t worry, I’ve got you. You can still be stylish AF while saving money. Don’t believe me? Take a look at these super easy ways to save your hard-earned money while still looking amazing. Thank me later!
Use Coupon AppsYou don't have to go searching the depths of the internet in order to find some awesome coupon codes anymore. You can download apps like Honey, which automatically applies coupons to your online orders and you don't even have to do anything. All you need is to download the extension for your browser and you're good to go. You'll be saving money in no time!
Shop At The End Of The SeasonTry to buy all of your winter clothes in the middle of winter, when stores are getting ready to put out all of the spring and summer stuff. Most of the winter clothes will be on clearnance and it will be a lot cheaper than going in the beginning of the season! Same with your summer clothes. You want to grab those bathing suits in the August, when all of your favorite stores are gearing up for their fall fashion. Image Source: iStock
Sell / Trade Your ClothesIf you want to make money off your clothes, you can bring them to places like Poshmark or Buffalo Exchange, where they will give you money (or store credit!) for your old clothes. You can check out if there is a location by you, or even send in your clothes via mail. It's so easy! Image Source: iStock
Sign Up For All Of The Rewards ProgramsEven though the constant barrage of emails can be annoying, reward programs send lots of coupons that you wouldn’t normally get if you weren’t signed up. They also often alert you to sales before they go public or sales that are for reward members only. The notifications end up being worth it if you shop at the store often. Image Source: iStock
If You’re Online Shopping, Put An Item In Your Bag, Then WaitThis sounds weird, but hear me out: some websites do this thing where they email you when they notice an item has been sitting in your shopping bag and you haven’t checked out. They want you to purchase the item, so to entice you, they sometimes send a code to get 10 or 20 percent off. Jackpot! Image Source: iStock
Shop AroundIf you see a pair of, say, Steve Madden boots you love on one site, don’t buy them right away. Google the name of the boots, then look around a little. You might find the boots for a better price on another site, or on a site that offers more coupons – like, if you find them on the Macy’s site and you have a Macy’s coupon, you’ve just saved some money. Be patient! It doesn’t always work, but sometimes it does. Image Source: iStock
Shop On Flash Sale SitesWant to know a designer brand shopping secret? Most women get their super expensive items for a whole lot cheaper at samples sales. Unfortunately, big sample sales like these are often only in big cites, so if you don’t have access, you can’t do the same. BUT you can use flash sale sites, which are almost as good. Sites like HauteLook and Gilt are awesome for finding great deals. You sign up to be a member, and then you get email alerts on what they’re selling when. Usually brands will offer sales for a few days or even a week, but bigger, more popular brands sometimes only do a few hours. You have to keep on top of it, since the more popular items will sell out quickly, but it’s definitely worth your time. Image Source: iStock
