If you’ve ventured onto Instagram at all over the past few months, you’ll know that rainbows, in any iteration, are kind of having a “moment.” You’ve got rainbow color melting. Rainbow-inspired multi-color correcting. Even rainbow bagels are trending. I’d speculated before that rainbow had maxed out when rainbow freckles came onto the scene, but the masterminds in charge of ROY G. BIV’s ubiquitous presence in our lives have proved me wrong again. Next up on Big Rainbow’s agenda? Rainbow bangs.
I must say that I started off being slightly leery of this trend, if only because I, personally, do not exactly possess the required components to properly pull off bangs of any sort. I’ve always felt that I have the essence of someone who should have bangs, but by forehead is too small, hair too voluminous, and I lack the proper drive that would be necessary to wrangle my hair into submission with a blow dryer and flat iron every day, meaning that having bangs would make it look as though my hair is eating my face. But, in any case, I am not here to recount my vague insecurities about my hair, face, and bangs-having abilities! Rather, I am here to tell you all you need to know about rainbow bangs, and how you can execute them yourself. Whether you get them or not is totally up to you, but either way, you have to admit that the rainbow hue is pretty nice to look at:
Rainbow bangs are pretty much exactly what they sound like–dying your bangs a few different hues while leaving the rest of your hair one solid color:
It’s attention-grabbing, but not totally overwhelming:
You can go with two coordinating colors, like this pink lemonade-type theme:
Or just some all-over color:
You can also just dye your bangs one shade instead of a bunch–what’s important is to have the pop of color, like this:
Need some convincing? Maybe Zendaya will inspire you:
Or Keke Palmer:
Whatever the case, it’s a fun, relatively way to spice up your look–or, at the very least, admire on other people:
