14 Of The Strangest “Me As A Girlfriend” Relationship Goals Posts Of All Time

As a Professional Internet Lurker™, I make it well-known that I spend a good portion of my time, day in and day out, literally  just gazing at memes.

This, obviously, is a hefty burden, but it is one I feel well-suited to bear. Though I am not quite yet a true meme librarian or connoisseur–you know, one of those people who sits in an office and is shown things like Pepe the Frog or Drake dancing or whatever and decides if they are fire or trash (which is a career that I know exists, surely), I am ardent meme appreciator, and, if you think about it, that’s all that really matters. Memes are, by their very nature, made for the people and by the people, after all!

So, it is with this perspective–a laywoman, but one with lofty ambitions–that I must say that there has been a meme, of sorts, that I just don’t really get at all. It’s called “me as a girlfriend,” and, as the name implies, it’s just a vehicle for people to imagine what they might be like as a girlfriend. The thing is, though, a lot of these imaginings are…odd. These girlfriends do not behave in a way that most girlfriends do, which is fine–be different! Love yourself! You are a special snowflake!–but, in a lot of cases, the pictures these ever-enthusiastic potential girlfriends choose do not seem as as though they are portraying normal human behavior, let alone girlfriend behavior. Or, in other cases, they are just doing extremely normal things that are just regular human behavior, not girlfriend-specific ones. I am at a loss, but perhaps you might be able to help me figure it out–so, here’s the best (?) of the “me as a girlfriend” meme (?):

1. What?

2. Oh.

3. Okay.

4. Why?

5. When u latch onto bae with a vice-like grip and he’s like “get off” and you’re like never >>>>>>

12. This cake *says* sorry, and yet, I am not exactly buying it:
