18 Beauty Products You Need To Fix Summer Damage To Your Hair And Skin

I love the summer because I love being outside. Whether I’m lounging at the pool, playing in the ocean at the beach, hiking or biking through the woods, or even just gong for a run, I can’t get enough of the sun. That’s why summer is my favorite season – because it’s the best time to enjoy nature in New York!

Unfortunately, the hot weather that comes along with summer can be so bad for your hair and skin. I’ve spent too much time in the sun the last few months, and my hair and skin feel dry and flakey – ick. I know I’m not the only one dealing with this problem. Who wants to deal with dry, frizzy locks and scaley skin through the school year? Here are 18 beauty products you need to buy that will help fix summer damage to your hair and skin. From lotions to masks, these things are worth the money and the time.

1. Bb Don’t Blow It

I’ve written about this product before, but I needed to write about it again because it’s one of my absolute favorites. Bumble and bumble Don’t Blow It is the best. It’s a cream you put in your hair after the shower that helps your hair dry naturally so you don’t have to use heat on it. It makes hair soft and silky, with no annoying frizzies. Since heat is the last thing you need after a whole summer of it, use this to keep your hair healthy.

Bumble and bumble Bb. Don’t Blow It Hair Styler, $30, Sephora

2. Instant Glow Cream

Vitamin C is just as good for your skin as it is for your body! This Instant Glow Enhancer from The Body Shop really does work. I use it in the morning before I put on my makeup to give myself a little glow. My skin has been feeling dry since I’ve spent so much time at the beach, and this really takes away the dullness.

The Body Shop Vitamin C Instant Glow Enhancer, $24, The Body Shop

3. Repairing Cream

I love Living proof and this is no exception. This lightweight lotion goes on damp hair to make it stronger and to fix the breakage that has already happened. It’s especially great if you color your hair.

Living Proof Restore Instant Repair, $29, Ulta

4. Dry Shampoo

If you know anything about me, you know I couldn’t live without dry shampoo. I’m loving this Marc Anthony Clear Dry Shampoo. It absorbs oil and adds volume while also cleansing and helping with color. Dry shampoo is great because it lets you go longer without washing your hair, which is healthy.

Marc Anthony True Professional 2nd Day Clear Dry Shampoo, $7.99, Drugstore.com

5. Hydrating Face Mist

If face mist sounds high-maintenance to you, it shouldn’t. It’s basically like lotion in liquid form. This one smells clean and leaves your skin SO moisturized. It can also be used on your face or body, which is great.

H2O Plus Face Oasis Facial Mist, $3.99, Ulta

6. A Hydrating Mask

All face masks are not created equal. I love this foaming mask by Bliss. It becomes really frothy and basically melts into your skin, leaving it feeling super soft. The citrus smell is yummy AND energizing.

bliss Triple Oxygen Instant Energizing Mask, $56, BlissWorld

7. A Leave-In Treatment

Using conditioner on a regular basis is great, but hair can’t truly get soft and healthy with that alone. You need to do at least one mask or leave-in treatment a week. This one is made of avocado and olive oil, which are two REALLY hydrating ingredients.

Infusium 23 Leave-In Treatment 3 Moisture Replenisher with Avocado and Olive Oil, $7.99, Drugstore.com

8. A Body Scrub

My skin has been feeling so dry and flakey from the sand and the ocean. An exfoliant is ideal for dry skin, as it gets rid of it, leaving smooth and soft skin behind. I’m so into this Waxing Kara option. It’s made from organic ingredients and smells like summer, which will be nice in the fall.

A Place In The Sun Summer Body Scrub, $28, Waxing Kara

9. Shampoo and Conditioner Just For Color

If you color your hair, you should be using products especially for colored hair. I bleach my hair, which makes it very dry. Blonde hair can also get brassy and weird in the sun. I’ve been obsessed with Drybar’s Blonde Ale line, which includes shampoo, conditioner, and a brightening cream. Each item keeps blonde hair looking shiny and bright, and feeling wonderful.

Drybar Blonde Ale Brightening Shampoo, $27, Sephora

10. Under-Eye Concealer

I don’t know about you guys, but I’m exhausted. My summer has been awesome, but I’ve done a lot. If you feel the same way, you’ve probably noticed some under-eye circles. This little concealer brightens up the area right away.

alba botanica Fast Fix for Undereye Circles, $5.99, Alba Botanica

11. A Great Face Mask

I know this mask is expensive, but trust me… it’s so worth it. Very few things have ever made my skin feel so soft. This smells lovely and really does hydrate skin. I use it once a week.

Fresh Rose Face Mask, $62, Fresh

12. A Heat Protectant

Want to protect your hair from getting more damaged? Get this protection spray. It will protect your hair from the heat of hot tools and UV rays for up to 24 hours, and it doesn’t even feel gross.

Living proof Restore Instant Protection, $26, Ulta

13. Skin Booster

I can’t get enough of this Vitamin C line! This is another great moisturizer that gives skin energy and hydrates it. It smells wonderful and works so well.

Vitamin C Skin Boost, $28, The Body Shop

14. Moisture Treatment Mask

This mask is made with color-treated hair in mind, but it will work for anyone. It’s super hydrating and it smells really tropical and fruity, which I love.

ColorProof SuperRich Daily Intensive Moisture Treatment, $25.50, SleekHair.com

15. Lip Balm

After days spent outside in the sun, your lips are probably a little dry and burnt. Get a lip balm to soothe them. You might as well get some from this super fun collection, which is colorful and feels great.

Rimmel London Keep Calm Lip Balm, drugstores

16. A Color Care Mask

Again, I can’t stress the importance of taking care of colored hair. This mask is so, so good. It will leave your hair feeling AMAZING.

Fekkai Technician Color Care Luxe Color Masque, $25, Birchbox

17. A Hydrating Mask

This face mask was made to get rid of dry and dull skin. It feels wonderful and it’s also great as an anti-aging product.

Fekkai Technician Color Care Luxe Color Masque, $25, Birchbox

18. Highlighter

If your skin is feeling dull from the sun, use some illuminator. This L’Oreal illuminator will give you a glowing look, as if you just stepped off the red carpet.

L’Oreal Paris True Match Lumi Liquid Glow Illuminator, $12.99, Ulta
