9 Important Facts About Diaphragms, The Birth Control Method You’ve Never Heard Of

Back in the ’90s, diaphragms were a very popular birth control method. They were all the rage because they were safe, affordable, and effective. They’re also pretty discreet so you can easily carry them around with you. Diaphragms were so popular that they were heavily featured in one of my favorite episodes of Seinfeld:

Diaphragms might seem ancient, but they’re still widely used, especially among women who can’t take birth control pills or who don’t want to mess with hormones. They’re actually making a comeback as a new diaphragm called Caya has just been approved by the FDA. It looks like the diaphragm got a makeover because it now has a different shape that fits more women and has a tab for easier removal. Neat!
