Here’s How To Really Tame Your Pubes

Hey Heather,

This is kind of an awkward question, but I’m a girl, and like most girls, my pubes keep getting tangled. I’m not sure what to do about my untamed pubes! Like everyone else, I use Herbal Essence hair conditioner twice a day, but they won’t chill out. I’ve cut it, but my untamable pubes just keep growing back and I need an alternate method for keeping my pubes tamed. My boyfriend also has the same pre-dick-ament. Got any advice for a sister with crAAAAAZY pubes?

pubic hair

Let’s discuss pubes, shall we? Pubic hair on everyone is naturally more coarse than the hair found on your head, arms, legs, underarms or basically anywhere else on your body. That means that the hair feels more rough, and usually looks more curly and, for lack of a better word, messy… or your word, “tangled.” Basically what I’m saying is that your pubic hair is supposed to look this way – it’s not supposed to be silky smooth, like the hair on your head.

Now, no one knows exactly why pubic hair tends to be more coarse and curly. It could be because it helps protect your very sensitive down there area. Pubic hair traps bacteria and keeps some things in check. It could also be because pubic hair trap pheromones, giving us a specific scent – so it could be a biological thing. Regardless of the reasons, the fact is, pubes are generally more tangled than any other kind of hair on your body.

A word of advice? Stop conditioning your pubes immediately. Like, right now. Stop. Your vag is super sensitive, and introducing anything new to that area could lead to irritation and infection. Herbal Essences conditioner is not meant for your vagina. It can easily bother your whole down there area and make things worse for you.

If your pubes are really bothering you, the best suggestion I can give you is to try getting a wax. A Brazilian or bikini wax removes all the hair down there, and after a while, the hair starts growing in lighter and less coarse. It’s painful and can be a bit pricey, but if you really don’t want to deal with the pubes, it’s worth it. You can also try shaving. The hair will grow back faster and shaving doesn’t affect the way it grows. But trimming it? That’s really not doing anything except making the hairs shorter.

Seriously though? Don’t worry about how “tangled” your pubes are. That’s what pubic hair is supposed to look like! You can learn to embrace it and live with it, or you can choose to take it all off. It’s totally up to you. But please stop conditioning it.

take care,
Heather

What makes you think it’s a girl? No one should use cnditioner in their pubic hair, it can upset your genitals no matter your sex. I’m a male, I was actually born physically female, I just have lots of testosterone. Personally I’m too afraid to shave my pubes, I just wait for the damn thing to fall out
