8 Myths About People With Tattoos That Are Definitely Not True

I don’t have any tattoos, but I have enough inked up people in my life to know that the stereotypes against people with tattoos are very real. My younger brother worked in a tattoo shop for a few years during college, and thanks to his free tattoo perks, he’s pretty much covered in them. Despite the fact that he’s a really hard worker and a very smart person with a good job, most strangers assume he’s a “loser thug” with no ambition or a “bad boy.”

I’ve heard guys make comments about how certain tattoos automatically mean a girl is “sluttier.” Uh, what? I’ve seen strangers give friends judgmental looks because of their ink, and I’ve heard others say they don’t take people with tattoos as seriously as they do people with no tattoos.

Personally, I’ve never understood the anger and ignorance surrounding tattoos. To me, a tattoo is body art. I would never judge someone based on what kind of tattoos they have on their arms, legs, or back. It makes me so frustrated when people do, and I don’t even have a tattoo! I can only imagine how those being discriminated against feel. So, here are 8 myths about people with tattoos that are just not true at all:

Do you have any tattoos? Which of these myths bothers you the most? What did I forget? Tell me in the comments.
