Clueless is one of our absolute favorite movies from the ’90s because, well, it’s fantastic. It’s funny and totally relatable because it showcased a lot of the awkwardness we experienced in high school. (Except we didn’t end up dating our stepbrothers, which is fine.) While the characters in Clueless were in fact clueless most of the time, we still ended up learning a lot of dating tips from them.
These tips will make you anything but clueless in the dating world:
1. Let your partner know when you’re upset.
If you’re upset or angry about something your partner did or said, you have to tell them. They won’t know why unless you vocalize it because they can’t read your min. You have to tell them what’s going on.
2. It’s okay to be picky.
You should never date someone just for the heck of it. That’s not fair to you or the other person. It’s good to have standards and stick to them!
3. Flirt, flirt, flirt.
You don’t have to pull Cher’s move or anything, but flirting with your crush will definitely get their attention!
4. Know you can say no.
This applies to anything from telling someone you’re not interested to saying no to something you’re not comfortable with. You always have the power to say no.
5. Talk to your crush.
You can strike up a conversation at any time! Tai rolled with the homies to talk to her crush, and you can totally do the same!
6. Don’t try too hard.
You do not have to be sexy or try to be sexy to be with someone! Just be yourself!
7. Make the first move.
Stop waiting for things to happen and just go for it!
8. Don’t worry about the superficial things.
In love, it’s really easy to question every little thing about yourself. Don’t fall for it! Stop picking every detail apart and things will work out the way they’re supposed to.
9. Watch your PDA.
There’s no need to be shoving your tongue down your boo’s throat in the middle of the hallway. PDA is fine, but make sure you’re not putting on a show for everyone else.
10. Don’t miss what’s right in front of you.
While I personally think it’s weird that Cher gets together with her stepbrother, it provides a good lesson. Some things are right in front of us, and we don’t even know it! Love could easily be in your life already if you just open your eyes.
