What 15 Of Our Fave Female Pop Stars Looked Like For Their First Albums Vs. Now

When a celebrity has been famous for a really long time, one of the best things about their journey to superstardom is being able to watch them grow and change. Most celebrities mature in the spotlight, and very few of them look and act exactly the same now as they used to when they first hit the scene years ago. This is especially true for musicians, and pop stars in particular.

Pop singers usually change the way they look and act at least once during their career… many of them more than that. It’s fun to remember what they used to be like compared to what they look like right now. It’s always interesting to see how different their style or point of view is. So, here are what 15 of our favorite female pop stars looked like when they released their first album compared to what they look like now, in 2015. Enjoy!

Taylor Swift

Taylor Swift has changed so much since she came out with her first album, Taylor Swift, in 2006. She's been steadily growing and maturing, but she really went through a huge transformation in 2014. Her long, wild curls are gone, replaced with a sleek trendy lob, and she's becoming more adventurous with her style, choosing crop tops and sexy dresses over sparkles and jeans.

Miley Cyrus

It's no secret that Miley has changed more than almost anyone since her first CD release, Meet Miley Cyrus, in 2007. Not only did she cut off basically all her hair, she kind of changed her entire personality. Now Miley is all about posting weird Photoshop photos of herself, wearing whatever the eff she wants, and saying crazy things. She's definitely not a Disney princess anymore, but I think she's still awesome. She's a living example of the advice to always be yourself! She gets a lot of hate for her transformation, but I've always fully supported her.

Rihanna

In 2005, a girl we had never heard of called Rihanna released a CD called Music Of The Sun. Now Rihanna has one of the most recognizable names ever and she's basically amazing. In the beginning of her career, Ri-Ri went through some very odd fashion choices and was a bit more tame. She was sexy in the traditional pop star way, but it was obvious that there was always something different about her. Now Rihanna's image is super glam and high fashion. She's also a total badass who doesn't give an eff about what anyone else thinks.

Ariana Grande

Ariana's whole image transformation started with her solo music career, so it doesn't make sense to use her first album cover here as an example of how much she's changed. So, here's a picture of what she was like when she was on Nickelodeon! Ariana has changed SO much this year. She went from a cookie-cutter Disney star to a total diva with a seemingly bad attitude and all the sex appeal she can muster.

Beyonce

In the beginning, we only knew Beyonce as one of the leading members of '90s girl band Destiny's Child. Now here we are in 2015, and we only know Beyonce as the Queen of Pop, or maybe the Queen of the World. Beyonce has always been flawless, but since the release of her first solo album, Dangerously In Love, in 2003, she's changed a lot. She went from the whole over-the-top sexy pop star thing to a trend-setter who always looks chic and glamorous while still being unique.

Selena Gomez

In 2009, Selena used her Disney fame as a way to release her first album, Kiss and Tell. Since then, she's done a lot: dated Justin Bieber, broke up with him, dated him again, broke up again, dated him again, broke up again... I mean, I think you get it.

Britney Spears

Oh, '90s Britney, how I love you. Britney has gone through so much since her first album release in 1999, but she's still just as amazing as ever. Her image in the beginning was "innocent," but it didn't take very long before she changed that.

Demi Lovato

In 2008, Demi released her album Don't Forget as a total Disney darling - albiet the "punk" one. Unfortunately, Demi broke under the pressure and ended up dealing with a lot of depression and eating disorders. Since then, Demi has really shown us the importance of being yourself. She stands up against anti-bullying, takes chances with her style, and is a true advocate for self-love.

Katy Perry

Katy Perry has basically done a complete 180 since her first album came out in 2001 - back when she was known as Katy Hudson. Katy started her career as a Christian singer (!!) and when that didn't work out, changed up her entire image. Now she shows off her body all the time, does music video with whipped cream coming out of her boobs, dyes her hair a new color every other month, and shows off a seriously wacky sense of style. Oh, and her first hit single was called "I Kissed A Girl." So, there's that.

Lady Gaga

Lady Gaga has always been weirder than most pop stars, but when she first came out with The Fame in 2008, she definitely was not as strange as she is today. She was very different, but in a more manufactured way. Now, Lady Gaga will wear literally anything (or nothing at all), and she's much, much more artsy and unique. Her music changed drastically as well, and not for the better.

Christina Aguilera

In 1999, Christina released Christina Aguilera, and was basically the sexier, more daring version of Britney Spears. While Britney was going on about her pledge not to have sex until marriage, Christina was singing about it whenever possible. She eventually renamed herself X-Tina and did a lot of nearly naked things. Now she's a mom and a judge on X-Factor and all that.

Hilary Duff

We all remember what Hilary Duff was like in 2002, when she released Santa Claus Lane and was playing Lizzie Mcguire on the Disney Channel. Hilary took a break from the spotlight for a while, but now she's back, and she's more glam than ever.

Jennifer Lopez

Jennifer Lopez released On The 6 in 1999, and she still looks almost exactly the same today, except, if possible, she's in better shape. This is because she's actually an alien. Did I mention I want to be her?

Mariah Carey

Has Mariah REALLY changed that much since her first album, Mariah Carey, came out in 1990? I kind of feel like no.

Nicki Minaj

Nicki released Pink Friday in 2010, so it really isn't that old. It's hard to believe she hasn't been around longer!
