It’s getting to be a little late to tackle difficult Halloween costumes so at this point, simple is better. Also, going the simple route will save money, time and effort. I really wanted to do something big for Halloween this year, but I’ve been really busy so it’s not looking good. Instead, I think it’s going to come down to creating something out of what I already have.
You can do a lot with your current wardrobe. Seriously, you just have to get creative, which I know you can do. I was looking through my little black dresses and realized there are, like, a million costume options in one dress! To prove it, I decided to round up some of the best costume ideas you can make with just an LBD:
Holly Golightly from Breakfast at Tiffany's
This one is a classic. Throw on your favorite little black dress, sunglasses, some pearls and stick a tiara on a bun. If you have gloves and one of those long cigarette holders, great. If not, this costume will still work!
You don't even need a flapper dress to be a flapper! Just wear an LBD and attach some fringe from the fabric store. Throw on a headband and you're good to go.
Katherine Pierce from The Vampire Diaries
It's pretty easy to be any character from TVD because they wear normal clothes, but Katherine is really fun. Channel her with a lace LBD and a masquerade mask. Bonus points for fangs.
Lydia Deetz from Beetlejuice
Lydia Deetz is so easy to do! You just need a black dress, messy hair and a lot of eye liner.
This is so fun, right? Wear a black dress, tights, shoes and gloves. You can pull black tights over your head too, but I think you can skip it and still make it work.
Wednesday Addams from The Addams Family
For Wednesday, wear a short-sleeved black dress, black or striped tights and black shoes. If you have a collared shirt, you can layer the dress over it. Braid some pigtails and have a bad attitude.
Nina Sayers from Black Swan
You don't need a tutu to be Black Swan. Wear a black dress, white tights and black flats. Do your makeup like the swan and dance around.
Cruella de Vil from 101 Dalmatians
You can be Cruella with a black dress, dalmatian stuffed animal and either a wig or by spraying your hair with some temporary color. If you have a faux fur jacket or stole and red gloves, go for it, but they're fine to leave out.
I love pandas so I am obsessed with this. Wear a black dress and attach a white round patch to your stomach. You can wear white tights with black socks. Paint your face like a panda and throw on some ears!
Ursula from The Little Mermaid
So glam! Throw on a black dress (maxi or mini) with purple tights. Do some Ursula-inspired makeup and practice your best maniacal laugh.
So cute! You can be a bear, cat, bat, dog or any other beanie baby with a black dress, a set of ears and a homemade Beanie Baby tag.
Precious! Throw on a black dress, some cat ears and cat makeup for a purrfect costume.
Three Blind Mice
This is a great group costume and so simple to do. You just need a black dress, sunglasses, ears and canes.
I did an entire post on various emojis you could be for Halloween, but if you're looking for something more simple, just throw on an LBD and make a giant emoji head.
