Comments Of The Week: Condoms

Okay, so I’ve come across a study about condoms that has given me quite a shock. Trojan, the company that is synonymous with the word “condom,” surveyed 500 men and 500 women on their condom use… and the results are awful. According to the study, “81% of young adults said that condom use is important, only 35% reported always using them. That means 46% of people just like the idea of condoms…” Now, I’m not the best at math, but 35% is not good. That number is way too low for how readily available condoms are to young people.

Seriously guys, we all need to be using condoms, like, all the time. Every time you’re ready to get down with anyone, condoms should be the most important thing. You should never be scared or embarrassed to use condoms, but a lot of you are. Here are 10 of your thoughts on condoms.

How young (and at what stage of life) are the young adults, though? I understand if you’re not in a long term relationship, condoms should be used every time, but what about a couple that has been together long enough to have been tested for STDs and are monogamous, even perhaps married? I use an IUD with my boyfriend of 4 years, and that is the only birth control we use. We don’t use condoms, but that’s because we have a more effective form of birth control and we only have sex with each other.

The first time I was planning on having sex I was really nervous about buying condoms. I told my friend about it but she was just as embarrassed as I was so in the end I chickened out and bought some from a machine in the bathroom! Can’t believe how scared I was back then coz now I don’t care what anyone else thinks when I’m seen buying them!
