Do you guys remember the show iCarly? Well I hope you do, because it was one of the best shows on TV in the late 2000’s. Even though I was a little older than the core audience, I still related to the show very much… and it was hilarious! I’m talking seriously funny moments between Carly, Sam, Freddie and Spencer. There was something about the story lines, chemistry between the characters, and the setting that just made iCarly the show to watch. I also think that it really set the bar for girls all over to start their own Youtube channels and shows. It may seem super normal now, but back in 2007 there weren’t nearly as many bloggers and vloggers out there. iCarly really showed how you can be young, have an idea, and make it a reality.
Another thing I loved about the show? The star, Miranda Cosgrove. She was so cute and nice, but she still had some spunk to her that I really loved. She was more level-headed and less erratic than her BFF Sam, who, let’s face it, was the backbone of the shows funniest moments. I recently got to chat with Miranda to see what she has been up to, and she filled me in on her most embarrassing moments and being the face of the NFL’s new t-shirt line just for teen girls. Check out Miranda’s answers on fall fashion, her most memorable moments and her advice on growing up.
Tell me about the NFL team t-shirt line!
I just did the photo shoot in New York as the ambassador for the NFL Tweens/Juniors Apparel line. And I think all the shirts are really cute! My favorite is the Seattle Seahawks shirt. I think that it’s really cool that you can dress all the t-shirts up or make them more casual. I feel like there are a lot of options and you can really express your personality. It was really fun doing the photo shoot and getting to do some of the more dressed up looks. My favorite was pairing the shirts with taller boots a skirt and jewelry. – Check out the entire line here!
So, you’re a Seahawks fan?
Actually, my favorite team is the San Francisco 49ers. I’m from LA and they’re the closest team to me. I also really like Colin Kapernick (49ers quarterback), I think that he is really cool and I really like his story. He’s probably my favorite player in the NFL. I just really liked the Seahawks t-shirt when we were doing the shoot.
How do you celebrate football Sundays?
My family always watches football together. I think one of the coolest things about it is that everyone is together. I definitely like seeing my dad go crazy during the games. He’s the one that’s the most into it.
Football season means fall is on the way. What are some of your favorite things to wear in autumn?
I love boots! I wear them all the time. My friends always thinks I’m funny because I’m from LA, but I’m always in boots. I’m really excited for fall so I won’t get weird looks anymore.
What’s your everyday style?
I’m pretty casual, especially sense I just started school. Most of the time I’m in jeans and boots. I like comfortable t-shirts and that’s why I like the NFL line so much because they’re really comfortable and really cute.
What’s the best fashion tip you’ve ever received?
Just to really be yourself. I remember when I was younger, I would try things that weren’t really my personality just because I wanted to be something that I wasn’t. Growing up, it’s fun to try different things and looks to see what you like the most. But I feel like people are always going back to whatever they are really comfortable with and what fits their personality. Don’t second guess yourself. Pick outfits that you are really comfortable in.
Okay, so we’ve all got embarrassing moments that we’ve lived through. What was one of yours?
I had this pretty big meeting once and I fell down a glass staircase, it was really embarrassing. I feel like all of my most embarrassing moments are always falls. I’m pretty clutsy and there is nothing more embarrassing than falling. I don’t know why for some reason whenever I fall I don’t even realize that I hurt myself because I’m too embarrassed.
What advice would you give girls about finding out who they are and being themselves?
I think the best advice that I’ve ever gotten, and it might be a little cheesy, but it’s just to really be yourself. I feel like people are always trying to make themselves fit what they think is the right thing to be or what people think is cool. I’ve done that before, tried to be someone I’m not. And I’ve always felt more comfortable when I’m just being myself. I try to be really happy with the things that I like and the way that I am.
What was one of your favorite moments from being on the iCarly set?
We did so many weird things on the show that most people haven’t done. I got to wear a harness in one episode and hang off the side of a building and did a lot of weird stuff. I also had my first kiss on iCarly. My most memorable moment was filming the final episode. We all really came together and I even saw Jerry Trainor (Spencer) cry. It was really eye opening because we all realized how much we all really loved doing the show. It was a sad but a good memory because it showed how much everyone loved being there.
