Are you ready to meet someone who’s going to knock your socks off? Good because I’m about to introduce you to Eden xo. I shared her hot lyric video for her hit “Too Cool To Dance” with y’all a few weeks ago, but I wanted to share her GIF video for it too because it’s super rad. Take a look:
This power dance anthem is obviously the start of some great sounds from Eden xo, and we can’t wait to hear what she has coming next! You definitely want to get to know this pop star. Eden xois the stage name of Jessie Malakouti, who was previously known as Jessie and the Toy Boys. She opened for Britney Spears’ Femme Fatale tour in 2011. Jessie signed a new contract with Virgin Records in 2013 and came out under her new stage name, Eden xo, with her hot new music.
I was pumped to chat with Eden xoabout music, life and love! She’s got some great insight and is definitely a role model along with our new favorite when it comes to music we can dance to:
How did you first get into music?
There was an old antique upright piano in my house growing up, a few of the keys would stick. My dad played harmonica sometimes as a hobby and my mom would play church songs on Sundays. My brother and I would mess around on the piano and try to figure out our favorite Disney songs. When I got a little bit older, I would take my poems and make up my own short songs on the piano.
How do you deal with criticism or haters?
I think it’s easier to let go of negativity when you realize that people who are haters are usually just insecure themselves, and then you almost feel sorry for them instead of letting them get to you. At the end of the day, other people’s opinions don’t define you.
What is the best advice you would give to teens who have big goals like becoming a musician or actress?
I always say dream big and follow your dreams, but be prepared to do the work. Success in this industry doesn’t come easy- you have to be willing to grind it out for a long time and hear a lot of “Nos” before you get a “Yes”. As long as you dedicate every day to getting better at your craft and learning you’re on the right track, it will happen if you really believe.
What advice would you give girls on how to be more confident?
Just remember that you are unique. No one is like you and that in its self makes you special.
What about dating advice?
I’m really lucky. I have the best boyfriend ever, and what I love most about him is how he makes me laugh. I would say dating someone who you can really be yourself with is key. I’m also a little old school and believe that guys should treat you right and do all the little things like opening doors, etc.
What’s one thing a girl can do to get their crush to notice them?
Ignore them. Creating a little mystery around yourself will spark their attention. Once you’ve got it, be sure to smile more. Guys love it when you’re happy.
Have you ever done anything embarrassing to get your crush’s attention?
Definitely. I still have the biggest crush on my boyfriend and get butterflies every time I see him. One time I bought a new pair of ridiculously high heels (like 6 1/2 inches) because I thought he would like them. When he picked me up to go on our date I tripped getting into the car and actually fell on the asphalt. The worst part was I was wearing a baby pink dress and for the rest of the night I had a giant black streak on my butt!
Do you have any dating dealbreakers?
If a guy is gross and burps or something at dinner. If he can’t keep it together and be a gentleman than he needs to find a new lady- not me!
Do you think it’s okay for girls to make the first move?
Sure. If you like someone, go for it! Just don’t be too desperate about how you make your move.
If you could give one piece of advice to your younger self, what would it be?
Listen more. Talk less. You don’t know everything, and you can learn something valuable from everyone you encounter.
