I’m never afraid to share my experiences as a virgin because there’s really nothing that I’m ashamed of about my v-card status. I’m not saving it for marriage or for someone I’m madly in love with; I just haven’t gotten around to it. Wow, shock! Horror!
Even though I’m not beating myself up about not having my bits up close and personal with someone else’s bits, it can be a bit tough being a virgin after high school, especially when you’re going into college. It’s easy to feel like you’re the only one who hasn’t had sex and that you’re a total loser if you don’t lose your virginity by your first semester. For all of you who feel like this, listen: Chill out! Here are seven ways you can survive your freshman year of college as a virgin without feeling like you’re a freak.
You're Not Alone...SeriouslyHonestly, you're going to feel ike the only virgin in a 20 miles radius sometimes at college. But guess what: You're not alone. Honestly, the last thing you want to assume is that everyone around you has lost their v-card while you're the only late bloomer. There are plenty of people who start and even leave college without having sex for whatever reason. Yes, dudes are included in this, too. Don't make assumptions! Sex Isn't The 24/7 Cesspool You Think It Might BeSure, people have sex in college. You might even get stuck with a roommate who can't get enough of her boyfriend or girlfriend and you're stuck hearing the terrible noises. But honestly, it's not as sex crazy as movies way lead you to believe. You won't be known as the odd girl out who isn't gettin' it in. Also, nobody is monitoring your sex life but you. Don't Feel Pressured To Lose It At A Certain TimeListen to me: Don't feel conned into feelings of inadequacy by "you're a virgin who can't drive" types. Don't. You're an adult now ad this isn't high school anymore! It's time to quit letting people get under your skin about something so petty. Having sex doesn't make you a good or bad person, it just makes you a person who has had sex. Photo source: Clueless/Paramount
Don't Be Afraid To Put Yourself Out ThereAre you open to the idea of either starting a relationship or even having a fun, casual hookup? Okay, cool, get out there, girl! Go to some parties that you feel comfortable at, check out some on campus clubs or go to that kickback your friend down the hall is throwing. The only way you can do this is to meet people. Life is too short not to. Photo source: Some Girls/BBC
Your V-Card Status Is Your BusinessYou aren't obligated to tell people that you're a virgin. It's not like it's a disease or something! Tell someone if you feel comfortable with it, but that's your prerogative! If you tell someone you're dating, hopefully they'll be cool with it. If they're not, try not to feel too lousy and move on to the next one. You don't want to waste time on dudes who think that virginity is a deal breaker. Photo source: My Mad Fat Diary
It Doesn't Hurt To Have Protection Around Just In CaseHey, you never know! Condoms are always good to have on hand if you plan to ever have p-in-v sex! Photo source: YouTube
If You End Up Doing It...Well, congrats! You're not a virgin anymore and, chances are, you won't really feel any different than you did before you had sex. But always remember to be safe and don't feel ashamed if you didn't have some amazing, movie quality experience. This isn't a hollywood movie set--or a porno set for that matter. This is real life. Find someone who had an absolutely perfect first time, one that included an orgasm. Trust, you'll have a tougher time than you think. Sex has a learning curve just like everything else, so no worries! Photo source: That 70s Show/Fox
