I normally don’t use bronzer on a regular basis because I don’t contour that much and don’t really like the look of bronzer on my face. Many bronzers are shimmery, which can make oily skin appear more oily so that’s a no-go for me. When I use matte bronzing powders, I just feel like I look a little dirty. I also don’t want to put anymore unnecessary chemicals on my face.
I came across a recipe for a DIY bronzer on Pinterest and wanted to try it out. I had great success with my DIY blush, which I use everyday! I figured a natural bronzer is pretty similar so why not give it a go? Click through below to see how it’s done and if it works!
What You Need
For this DIY, you'll need corn starch, cocoa powder, cinnamon and nutmeg. Using just cocoa powder results in just a brown powder instead of a bronzed, glow powder. The nutmeg and cinnamon up your glow factor like a lil' glow worm.
Start With Corn Starch Base
I spooned out 1 teaspoon of corn starch into a bowl as a base. There aren't really exact measurements to this, but I wanted to start light and add in.
Add Everything Else
Add your cocoa powder, cinnamon and nutmeg in whatever measurements you like.
This obviously looks really light. Making your own bronzer is an experiment so add more of your darker ingredients until you get the color you want. If it gets too dark, you can just add more corn starch!
Stop When You're Happy
Once you reach a shade that you like, simply stop! You're now ready to use it.
Just so you can see the difference!
I tested this on my arm first, which is a lot tanner than my face. This color is a lot darker than I thought, but it's okay because we're going to blend it out.
Glowy and ready to go! I love how this feels on my skin because it's not heavy like real makeup. It also smells AMAZING. I feel like a walking cake. It holds up pretty well. I didn't notice a different in wear between this and other bronzers I've used. If you have really sensitive skin, you might want to skip the cinnamon because it can make your skin tingle a bit.
Have you ever made your own bronzer? Would you try it? What else do you want me to test? Tell us in the comments!
