I have oily skin, and it’s a huge pain to deal with. Even when my skin isn’t being a jerk by breaking out, I’m still oily. It’s actually a good thing because people with oily skin age more slowly so I have that going for me. One of the problems with oily skin is that your makeup doesn’t like to stay on. And that is super annoying. That’s why I never leave the house without applying a setting powder.
I use a lot of products to keep my oily skin in check, but setting powder is one of the most important products in my makeup bag. I love Make Up For Ever’s HD Microfinish Powder, but it’s really expensive. And I love the e.l.f. dupe of it too. However, I’m trying to put less chemicals on my face. I’ve used Arrowroot powder/flour in my hair as a dry shampoo (which I love!) so I decided to use it on my face. Click through below to see how it works!
Get Some Arrowroot
Arrowroot is a natural powder that comes from a variety of tropical plants. It's literally just plant starch. I bought a big bottle on Amazon since I use it for so many things.
Using a big powder brush, apply a light coat of Arrowroot flour over your makeup.
Make Sure To Blend
Arrowroot is pretty translucent, but if you don't blend it all the way it can get chalky like this. Make sure you really blend it out so you don't look like you smashed your face in flour.
Go About Your Business
This is my face after 4 hours, and it's a little dewy but not oily like it usually is!
THE BEST. You guys, I love this stuff. It truly works, and I've tried everything to keep my oily skin under control. Arrowroot is definitely a winner because it's cheap, it lasts and it's totally natural.
Are you going to try this? What else do you want me to test? Tell us in the comments!
