I’m really freaked out because I just noticed this bump on one of my boobs. It kind of looks like a pimple, but I’ve never gotten one there, and I never thought you could. I don’t know what to do! Also, sometimes I get little bumps on my nipples. Are these things related? What’s going on? Why do I have bumps on my nipples? Help!!
Okay, don’t panic. I know that any kind of bump or lump on your boobs can be really scary if you don’t know what’s going on, but don’t jump to conclusions! It could be totally innocent. If that bump you see on your breast looks and feels like a pimple, it probably is just a pimple. We can get zits on any of part of our bodies, and although it’s not as common to get them on places like your boobs, it can still happen.
If the bump is much larger than an average zit, feels hard and lumpy, or is very painful, then you should potentially be concerned. If that’s what it is like, go to a gynecologist to get a breast exam. I can’t see it in front of me, so I can’t tell you exactly what’s going on – that’s where a doctor comes in. If you’re really worried about it, do that. But, it’s more than likely just a little zit. You can pop it if you really want to, but since the skin in that area is so sensitive, it may get red and irritated. Try putting some acne cream on it and waiting for it to go away on it’s own.
As for the bumps on your nipples, again, don’t stress. This is actually really common, it’s just not something that every girl talks about. The bumps are called Montgomery Glands, and they secrete an oily type of liquid that keeps the area lubricated and protected, since it’s so sensitive. You probably notice them more when you’re turned on or really cold – they become more noticeable when the nipple is stimulated. They also come into play when you have a baby, so actually, they’re pretty cool.
So, seriously, don’t panic. It sounds like everything is just fine and normal with your boobs.
