Lip plumpers are coming back as a trendy beauty item, and I’ve been seeing a lot of hype about them. In the 2000s, lip plumping glosses were all the rage. Some even claimed to contain bee venom, which didn’t seem like the safest thing to me. I’ve never felt like my lips needed plumping, but I know a lot of people who really want their lips to be bigger without doing anything permanent. I get that.
I’ve seen a lot of pins that claim adding peppermint oil to your lip gloss can plump your lips up. I was pretty skeptical, especially since a lot of lip products already contain peppermint oil and don’t really make a difference. I was curious to see if adding it yourself really works. You Need: Lip Gloss And Peppermint Oil
Grab your favorite lip gloss (I'm using Smith's Rosebud Salve) and some peppermint oil. You can find peppermint oil at almost any beauty supply store, online and even in grocery stores.
Only add a few drops to your lip gloss, and mix them together! It might be a little watery so it's best to use a lip brush or Q-tip.
Here are my lips before applying for reference!
Don't be surprised if you feel a little tingling!
Again, for reference. They look a little bigger, no?
It works! I was actually pretty surprised because peppermint oil is in a bunch of lip products, but it's not as strong. Adding your own seems to plump lips up a bit. Be careful not to add too much though because it can sting in that case. It's also worth noting that peppermint oil does not taste great like peppermint flavor. It's super strong so you don't want to really get it in your mouth.
