15 Celebrity Feuds From The ’90s and Early 2000’s You Forgot About

A few days ago, TMZ released a video of Solange Knowles getting into a physical fight with Jay Z, while Beyonce stood between them watching, and it is literally all anyone is talking about. Seriously. In the last 48 hours, I have seen more theories on what is going on between Solange, Jay, and Bey than I have actual news stories about important things that are going on in the world.

The amount of coverage this little feud is getting is insane, although I can’t say I’m too surprised. Celebrities have been feuding and fighting forever now, and it is something the public will never get tired of talking about. We’ll never know what really happened between two famous people, and that mystery is what makes these feuds so interesting to us.

The point is, Bey, Jay, and Solange aren’t the first stars who have had to deal with this stuff… we’ve probably just all forgotten about the feuds that came before them. Can you blame us? There are so many famous fights to keep track of! I’ve put together a little list of 15 celebrity feuds from the ’90s and early 2000’s that are worth bringing up again. Now, let’s leave this family alone and focus on whatever happened with these old feuds, shall we?

Lindsay Lohan vs. Hilary Duff

Back in the early 2000's, when Lindsay Lohan, Hilary Duff, and Aaron Carter will our A-listers, the three got involved in a messy little love triangle that left Lindsay and Hilary feuding. Unfortunately, they were fighting over Aaron, which is just sad. Aaron was dating Hilary, then dumped her to date Lindsay... then, shortly after, dumped Lindsey to go back to Hilary. Needless to say, it was very dramatic. The media had already imagined a rivalry between Lindsay and Hilary, since they were two Disney stars who were the same age heading in the same direction fame-wise, and this didn't help. As far as I know, they're not friends - although Aaron has made it clear that Hilary is his first choice.

Britney Spears vs. Christina Aguilera

To be honest, I'm not sure if the Britney and Christina feud was entirely made up by the media, or if these two really were fighting. Back in the late '90s/early 2000's, Brit and Christina were the two biggest pop stars out there - and so they were constantly pitted against each other. Although they never publicly fought, they never really showed a united front either (which made this appearance on an MTV awards show a huge deal). They seemed to be friends when they were younger, but after that, things always seemed pretty icy. They've made subtle comments about each other, but that's about it.

Paris Hilton vs. Nicole Richie

This is probably the most depressing out of all of Paris' many public feuds. Paris and Nicole were best friends since they were kids, and thanks to that friendship, we were given The Simple Life, which is everything good about reality TV. Unfortunately, that show is also probably what ruined their friendship. While there was never an official explanation as to what happened, the world noticed the two drift apart while filming one season. There were a lot of rumors about what went down - was Nicole jealous of Paris' fame? Did Paris do something to Nicole? - but no one knows for sure. After their falling out, they went in two completely different directions.

Christina Aguilera vs. Eminem

Eminem has feuded with basically everyone who was really famous in the early 2000's, but one notable feud was between him and Christina. In 2000, Christina and her sister went on an MTV show and said that they thought Eminem was cute, but girls should watch out about dating abusive guys. That comment apparently didn't sit right with Em, and he began attacking her through lyrics in his song "Off The Wall." In his song "The Real Slim Shady," he accused her of hooking up with Fred Durst and Carson Daley, essentially slut-shaming her to the world. Christina responded by reportedly recording a diss song called "Will The Real Slim Shady Please Shut Up?" and some of her lyrics in the song "Can't Hold Us Down" are thought to be directed at him.

Lauren Conrad vs. Heidi and Spencer Pratt

A lot of things on The Hills were fake, but I think it's safe to say that this epic feud was real. When we first met Heidi, she was Lauren's best friend and the two were inseparable... until she met Spencer and everything went downhill. Lauren and Heidi's feud began when Heidi started ditching Lauren for Spencer all the time, but it really went off when Speidi spread a rumor that Lauren had made a sex tape. The rumor resulted in lots of public fights, nasty comments, and tears that became timeless GIFs today. Even though Heidi tried to patch things up for years (it was actually really pathetic to watch), Lauren refused to ever be her close friend again. These days, Lauren and Heidi seem to be on relatively friendly terms, but not Lauren and Spencer.

Madonna vs. Courtney Love

I'm not exactly sure when the feud between Madonna and Courtney Love started, but if I had to guess, I'd say it was around the time this interview was recorded. Guys, you HAVE to watch this, because it's celebrity interview gold. While Madonna is getting interviewed at the 1995 MTV Movie Awards, Courtney Love appears and creates some seriously awkward tension. Around the 2:35 mark, Courtney throws her makeup at Madonna, at which point Kurt Loder obviously invites her up to crash the interview. Madonna says, "Should we let her come up? No, don't, please." She adds, "Courtney Love is in dire need of attention right now. She's throwing her compact at me." Courtney comes up, Madonna is obviously incredibly uncomfortable and annoyed, Courtney is kind of oblivious and makes a lot of awkward conversation.

Biggie vs. Tupac

I'm not going to lie, I'm not super familiar with what exactly happened between Biggie and Tupac.... but I obviously know about this feud, because it's one of the most talked about feuds of all time. Here are the basics: In 1994, Tupac was shot in a Manhattan recording studio, and that shooting set off a huge rivalry between East and West Coast rappers. This rivalry was so bad that it eventually led to both Tupac and Biggie being murdered. So, yeah, I'd say that their feud was the most serious out of this entire list.

Paris Hilton vs. Lindsay Lohan

When Paris and Nicole drifted apart during The Simple Life, Paris immediately made a new best friend in the form of Lindsay Lohan, who was in her prime at the time. I firmly believe that Lindsay's friendship with Paris was a big part of her downfall, but that's a story for another time. Anyway, Paris and Lindsay were inseparable for a while, on the cover of every tabloid acting ridiculous. No one knows why they started fighting, but one night at a club they got into an argument, and later that weekend, the infamous "Firecrotch" video came out. In it, oil heir Brandon Davis (who was close with Paris and Lindsay), said (among other things), "Lindsay Lohan is a firecrotch. She has freckles coming out of her vagina." Paris didn't speak up during his rant about Lindsay, just walked along next to him giggling. It was obviously really embarrassing for Lindsay. Although they claimed to make up after, there were constant reports of tension between them, and things were just never the same.

Jennifer Aniston vs. Angelina Jolie

We all know the story Brad Pitt, Jennifer Aniston and Angelina Jolie, because the tabloids still refuse to stop talking about it. Brad and Jen got married in 1998, and everyone thought that they had the most perfect marriage in Hollywood. Until Brad met Angelina when they were shooting Mr. and Mrs. Smith. It's widely believed that Brad cheated on Jen with Angelina, then the two got a divorce, and as we all know, Brad and Angie are still on. Although the women rarely speak about each other and there has never been a public battle between them, we all know that they probably seriously dislike each other. And ever since that divorce, we were all divided into Team Jen or Team Angie (Team Jen all the way).

Emniem vs. Mariah Carey

Another one of Eminem's huge feuds involved Mariah Carey, and it's one of my favorites because it's so mysterious. Eminem claims that in 2001, him and Mariah dated, but she insists that they never did. Once she denied this, Em got angry and started attacking her through lyrics on a bunch of different songs. Mariah responded several times, once in her music video for "Obsessed," where she dresses as Em and acted like a stalker. He responded with the song "The Warning," and things have been quiet since then... although I'm assuming they probably still don't get along.

Kim Kardashian vs. Paris Hilton

I think it's pretty safe to say that Paris Hilton has feuded with everyone she's been best friends with. Before Kim Kardashian was as famous as she is today, she was just a socialite who was besties with Paris and her crew. Paris and Kim had been BFFs since they were kids, but their friendship fizzled out around the time that Kim released her sex tape and started getting way more media attention than Paris. Paris was once quoted saying, "I would not want [Kim's butt] - it's gross! It reminds me of cottage cheese inside a big trash bag." So, obviously Paris is a really nice person. They haven't been photographed together since 2009.

Shia LaBeouf vs. Frankie Muniz

I had no idea these two were feuding until just now, but okay. In 2003, when Frankie Muniz was super famous from Malcolm In The Middle and Shia was still relatively normal, they didn't get along. Shia once said, "I used to see [Muniz] at premieres and stuff and it would always be like he was looking down on me. And then it turned into we're equal, and then it turned into 'Oh Frankie? I know that guy.'" Apparently, he never let it go, because during an interview in 2010, he took a jab at Frankie, saying, "You could have put Frankie Muniz into any of the movies I've been in and those movies would have still been No.1." He added, "I don't go to many parties and I don't really hang out in Frankie Muniz-type zones." Ouch. Frankie replied by tweeting, "Dear Shia Labeouf. It's getting creepy the fact that you can't stop talking about me. It's been 12 years now. I don't know you. Thanks." I'm guessing they still don't get along.

Naomi Campbell vs. Tyra Banks

People have been talking about a feud between Naomi Campbell and Tyra Banks for years now. There are so many rumors about their supposed feud that it's hard to even know where to start. Naomi even appeared on Tyra's show to try to make the rumors stop, but apparently it was awkward and uncomfortable. Naomi recently discussed the feud, saying it wasn't true, but who knows?

Kid Rock vs. Tommy Lee

Kid Rock and Tommy Lee were in such a feud that they actually got into a physical fight, because I mean, it's Kid Rock and Tommy Lee, so what do you expect? The two got into a fight during the MTV VMAs one year, and although we don't really know why, everyone assumes it was over Pamela Anderson (both men were married to her at one point). They got into a physical fight during the awards and both had to be escorted out by security. Kid Rock later talked about it in an interview, saying, "It's been going on for five years. I did what any man would do, any man across the country, across the world would do. It kills me just to be associated with, to have my name in a sentence with him, it honestly destroys me." Oof.

50 Cent vs. The Game

This feud wasn't just between 50 Cent and The Game, it became a pretty big rapper feud that got a lot of attention back in the early 2000's. At first, the two were supposed to have a mentor/protegee relationship, until they got into some sort of fight. The Game was supposed to work with 50 Cent and his crew, G-Unit, and he did for a while, but after an altercation that involved a shooting and some public words, G-Unit got rid of The Game. They both wrote raps about each other, all of G-Unit started attacking The Game. This kind of thing went on for years, while The Game worked with other 50 Cent rivals like Rick Ross, Ja Rule, and Fat Joe. It was a huge mess and Game is still dissing 50 in tracks. This feud will never end.
